Okay I have asked this before and viewed pictures of the OKW studios but I am still not convinced that I will not be disappointed in them. Here is my situation, 11 or us are going and I can't decide it I want one 2BR and 1 studio or 3 stuidos. Right now I have the 3 studios, but I am used to staying in a 1-2 br and am afraid that I will miss the extra ammenities. We are taking my sis who says she doesn't care what the room is like because it is free for her and she is only going to sleep in it. But we are also taking my parents who said they will only go to the park for 3 days and I think that they will enjoy just hanging out. But I really like my privacy. My dh says to get a lock off and let the parents have the living room during the day. So my question is (sorry for the rambling) will I be disappointed in an OKW studio if I am used to a 1 br? I have stayed in studios ot BWV and VWL and they were okay for a short trip and I liked having the couch. Thanks::MinnieMo

Well, you know that OKW studios don't have a couch - 2 regular Queen size beds. It sounds as if you'd be more comfortable in a 2 Bdrm lockoff AND a studio if that many of you are going. WHy not splurge and get a GV? You'd have all the amenities and really IMPRESS your family.

Actually I am waitlisted for a GV (I even picked 2 different weeks hoping that someone will cancel somewhere), but I guess I probably should go with the 2 br and studio. My real issue with the 3 studios is that I want my family to think that DVC is great and not just another hotel room.

If you have ANY expectation that some or all of your group will congregate to "chat", watch TV, have something to drink, etc, how comfortable will it be to do that in a studio? If you don't want anyone hanging out in your space (or think you'll have difficulty kicking everyone out so you can have some privacy), this might not be a good idea after all.

If I were trying to add to the vacation pleasure of my guests, and WOW them at the same time, these are the considerations for me:

washer/dryer conveniently available
jacuzzi conveniently available
a larger table for people to sit at
the ability to fix a nicer breakfast (using stove) one or two AMs
several couches
larger deck
larger bathroom, with separate areas

Hope you have a great trip!

I vote for the 2Br and Studio. More gathering space and the full kitchen and washer dryer are a plus. A 2br is very impressive
BTW I was just wondering are Chuck S and Richyams really the same person or evil twins?

If not a GV then definately a 2 bedroom with a studio added. I couldn't get along without the other amenities.

If you really do want to impress family with DVC then you HAVE to do it via the 2 Bdrm...treat your parents for heaven sake as they will have lots of space to hang out in when they remain back. Surely if you need your own space you can hang out in your master bedroom and giant bath with access to patio better than in a studio!
After 10 years of bringing family and friends to OKW as well as HHI, VB, BWV, BCV the most impressive, comfortable and best memory making space hands down has always been OKW 2 Brm. We have never splurged on a GV as of yet but have done the 2 Br + studio for extra sleeping space.
Good Luck!

I'd also recommend the two bedroom-dedicated if you want the privacy-and keep the waitlist for the grand villa.

Another vote for a 2 bedroom and studio. I f a goal is to help your family "see" the wonder of the DVC, then the 2 BR will do it, not the studios. The full kitchen - completely equipped, the Whirlpool tub, the Washer and Dryer, the wonderful extra room of the OKW 2 bedroom . I could go on and on :-) Have Fun whatever you choose!

I also vote for the 2 BR and a studio, with YOU in the master bedroom. Everyone in your party can have keys (non-charging) to your 2 BR and it can become the meeting and hanging out place. We've done this in the past and it works really well ... although we didn't have anyone sleeping in the living room.

Do not fall into the trap of allowing your family to have the master bedroom! That belongs to the OWNERS :).

I also agree that a 2 bedroom and studio would work best. The chairs at OKW studios are not really that comfortable to relax in if parents are spending the whole day there. There is no sofa, only the 2 queen beds. Definitely the living room, kitchen and patio of 2 bedroom would be more comfortable for them to spend the day.

I'd go with the 2 BR plus studio for several reasons. First, you get a full kitchen which should save you money in the long run. Second, I suspect you will be disappointed in the studios for anything more than a couple of days. Lastly, your chances of all being very near each other are much better with the 2 BR plus a studio rather than 3 studios. The points are not that much more either.

So my question is (sorry for the rambling) will I be disappointed in an OKW studio if I am used to a 1 br? I have stayed in studios ot BWV and VWL and they were okay for a short trip and I liked having the couch. Thanks

You will only be disappointed if you let yourself be, but it sounds to me like you really like the perks of staying in a larger room...

My real issue with the 3 studios is that I want my family to think that DVC is great and not just another hotel room.

This is a whole other issue.... Your sister already said she doesnt care as long as it if free... well it is free and that's a heck of a lot better than just another hotel room :hyper:

I dont know what you point status is, but I thought I would toss this option out..... 2 ONE bedrooms and a studio... a bit more than a GV would be, but everyone would have their privacy, you get what you want, parents get a lovely hang out, and your sister has a bed...

Good luck, planning family trips are the hardest.... but also the funnest!

Believe me, I have no idea why Rich quoted me verbatim. :)

It is fairly rare that Rich & I agree completely on a subject.
