Still Confused Please Help

I know I must seem like an idiot but I am still confused about transferring points from another member.

I know that if I want to go to my home resort (BWV) that I can reserve 11 months out. My question is: I plan to take a trip in 10/05. How soon can I have the points transferred to my account, so they will be there and "ready" at the 11 month window this November?

Can someone please (pretty please?) explain this to me clearly? Can I do it today (theoretically, I have no one to transfer from yet) if the person will have the points in their account by the time I take the trip? Or do I have to actually wait until the points are in their account before the transfer?

I know that I can make a ressie based on if the points will be in the account at the time of the trip, does it work that way with point transfers also?

I called MS yesterday and although the CM was very patient somehow I am still unclear on this. I hope someone can help my poor frazzled brain.

Alot would depend on your use year and the use year of the person who is transferring to you. I would carefully consult with member services before you make any final deals. The best thing would be to arrange a 3 way conversation with you, the person you are renting from and member services.

Since banked or borrowed pts cannot be transferred I need to find someone with a November use year at BWV in order to transfer the points I need if I want to get an October ressie at BWV in 2005 at the 11 month window.

In other words, November 2004 is the soonest that any current points will be available for October 2004 ressies, so it's the soonest I can make a transfer deal with someone.

Does this make sense or am I missing something?

There is no November use year. DVC does not sell January, May, July or November.

You can bank transferred points. So if someone transferred their 2004 points to you, you could in turn bank them. Again, clear it through member services.

Wow no November use year, I guess there's still plenty I don't know about DVC. The interesting thing is the CM I talked to today when I called MS and explained my problem actually said "You need to find someone with a November use year"! So evidently I got someone who wasn't the most savvy CM on earth.

I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me Debbie. So you're saying that if I got someone's 2004 points transferred to me I could bank them towards a vacation in October 2005? Do I have to be careful about use year when I get these points?

I totally hear you about clearing with MS, but as evidenced by what I was told today I think I trust your knowledge even more.
