I am still afraid to book BOMA because I am so picky....Does anyone have any pictures of the actual food and the childrens buffeyt?/ Thanks so much !!!

The food is very good. If you are that afraid, I would say skip it and eat counter service.

Sorry, no pictures, but the children's buffet food is just the same as everywhere else, from memory (only had dinner once), Mac & cheese, nuggets etc. I am a very picky eater and I ate there. Dinner once and breakfast about 10 or 11 times (the breakfast is FANTASTIC). The food there isn't spicy as in hot, chilli spices it is very mild spices, almost sweet, like cinnamon etc (not just that spice), but the desserts are delicious too.

This is the only picture I have from Boma...you can see what my DS though of it. Seriously the food was very good!

This is one of my favorites. If you are picky though it may not be the place for you. It has some great flavors, things we can't find where I live.

We are not picky eaters, but we didn't like it. We went for dinner once and I think we had our hopes up too high from everything I read and heard about it. Decided to try it again on another trip and had breakfast. The breakfast was mostly the same as any other buffet you can find around the country (though the juice was divine!).

AKV is our home resort, so I figure we'll probably go there again some time in a pinch...but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. Then again, maybe it is the perfect opportunity to expose your kids to different food so they aren't so picky! :thumbsup2

Whatever you choose, I hope you have a great time.

My pick DH, Mr. Meat and Potatoes himself, loved Boma. There are chefs there to explain exactly what is in everything, and I've even eaten fish there - I normally can't deal with fish anywhere. I'd say give it a try, you may very well me pleasantly surprised. :yay:

My entire family was disappointed. The buffet didn't do it for any of us and then the desserts were not our style at all. It gets a big thumbs down from us and a no go on this trip.

That was for dinner... never been for breakfast.

We felt that breakfast was boring, no different than other buffets across the country.

We enjoyed dinner there, not our favorite meal ever, but it was much better than breakfast.

We ate dinner at Boma last trip and it was a pleasant surprise! I could eat stuff like that all day but DH was skeptical. There was prime rib and chicken for him and I branched out into the more exotic stuff.

Kids menu was typical: pasta, chicken nuggets, mac n' cheese, french fries, etc....

As for the PP who didn't like their desserts: :confused3 I thought they had AMAZING desserts. My one "complaint" was that many of them were made with alcohol and we were skeptical of letting DS try them. So he ate a few cookies. Not a big deal.

I say, go for it. Try something new!

Maybe that was it about the desserts... my DH very rarely drink and I can always taste a strong alcohol flavor when it is in something (my dessert at Coral Reef was bad too).

Might just be us.

DH and I love breakfast at Boma but we did not like dinner there ..... too much cinnamon and vanilla in the food for us

:rotfl2: I went and read your review and looked at your pictures and it all came flooding back to me!

Ginger ~ is for dessert not a soup or a dressing (IMHO)
Coconut ~ don't eat it
Soups ~ I think I remember the soups our night where chilled soup ~ soup should be hot.
Desserts ~ rum flavored or coconut or just plain yuck... oh and there was no Pineapple cheesecake! No fair!

The other thing I didn't like is we were so far away that we had to squeeze through all tables to get to the buffet ~ and with two small children (we waited at least an hour since they had lost our reservation) it seemed odd.... so I pretty much didn't see DH the whole time ~ since I was gone for me... or gone for DD or he was gone.

I'm not the most adventurous eater, but I love Boma. I love the meats and salad, and especially the desserts. ANd I usually get some mac and cheese from the kids buffet...
