Just curious here but since the sling bag is such a let down has anyone mentioned it on the comment card after your cruises? We have 3 cruises under us so only 2 gifts but we have a beach bag and a back pack. Can't say I'm looking forward to the sling bag.
I understand wanting a new loyalty gift every year, but don't get all the hate on the sling bags. I like mine. It's meant to be worn crossbody, so I've had no issues with it falling off my shoulder. It's nicely padded and distributes the weight nicely. It is not a beach bag, and I wouldn't use it for that. I've used mine for various girl scout events to hold the troop's paperwork, first aid kit, and a water bottle for myself. It's great for that and leaves my hands free.
You suggest complaining about a gift? DCL (or any other cruise line/company) decides what (if any) gifts they give to loyal customers. If the customers start telling the company what to give out, is it still a gift for being loyal?

At least on Royal (and from what I can tell Celebrity) no gifts. You get discounts, casino credit, a happy hour depending on your level, etc. but no physical things like bags.

The sling bag is nice. if you don't have one already you might like it. My son loves them, he loves the sensory feedback of a sling bag - it's not huge but it's nice quality and nice looking and embroidered. Someone on my cruise had 5 or 6 extra and embroidered had her grandkids names on theirs and offered her spares with the embroidered names up to the other people on the cruise. I was lucky enough to see the post early and snag one for my son, he is going to love it. I will probably pixie dust the one I get on board to a first time cruiser, who I'm sure will enjoy it.

I think our biggest complaints on the sling bags is it has been around for so long, where in the past they changed every 2 years on average and we are stretching to 3 years right now and that it is not very useful to carry stuff for the beach (think Caribbean cruisers). If you are going ashore and want to toss a couple ponchos or a small compact umbrella and some sunscreen in something and maybe a few small items you are good but towels, swim suits etc just won't fit. DH used his for work to carry a spare jacket and a snack when he worked out a locations without lockers or access to his car, but that is all he could fit in it. The beach totes they used to give can hold much more and are better for the beach and/or carrying items for an entire family.
I have 5 sling bags. My biggest issue with them is that they have this rough mesh backing that rubs on my shirts and makes them all nubby. They can be nice to carry stuff around, but I hate that they ruin my clothes so I never use them anymore.
