Today I woke with a stiff neck. You know the kind where you can hardly look left to right? :scared:

After the kids left for school, I lay with a HOT heating pad for an hour, then took a very hot shower. I am now at work for 2 more hours, and I find it extremely difficult to function...I also promised kids the TMNT movie tonight, so I must get better soon..

Other than time and Aleve, are there any other quick fixes?

First, don't use heat. You need to use cold to help with the inflammation.

A very gentle neck rub on either side of the spine usually helps.

I always get neck pain if my head is too high when I sleep, arm under the pillow, thick pillow, double pillows etc. Poor you. I hope it gets better.

Ibuprofen. I know ice reduces inflamation but give me moist heat.

Try Theragesic, I never believed in the stuff, but it seems to work to calm those muscles in the back of the neck and it does make a difference...

After I put that on, I'd pour myself a couple glasses of wine & take it from there :lmao:

DH has a lot of neck/back problems and he swears by moist heat and motrin. I can't imagine ice feeling good on a stiff neck, no matter how good it is for you!
