I don't know about you, but I have had alot of fun day dreaming about our upcoming WDW trip. With that being said, I will be traveling solo in Jan. with our 8 yo DD and 13 yo DS. Our 5 dinner ADRS:
Teppan Edo
Cyrstal Palace
Coral Reef
Boma
Mama Melrose
Kona (lunch)

I think I did "good" but now am second guessing :surfweb: the Coral Reef ADR @ 7:00 pm on a Sat. night. I am wondering if the kids will like the food and wondering how slow the service will be on a prime night. A 2 hour dinner with the kids would be agony? I know these things can be hit or miss, but there are so many good choices at Epcot, and my DS is a teen ager, so wondering if the portions will satisfy him? Any suggestions? Thank you Dis-ers!!!

Can't say for certain...but we enjoyed Coral Reef last November with an 8pm reservation on our first night. It was our DD's first trip, so she was so overwhelmed with everything, that she was too distracted to misbehave. She did great, we enjoyed the food, and we have an ADR scheduled there for our first night again for the upcoming trip. I say go for it!

Well, of all the dining we did at Disney, Coral Reef was our least favorite as far as the food goes. The atmosphere was wonderful, but the food left a lot to be desired!

Coral Reef is one of those places we eat at every trip. However, we have learned from experience that: 1) Coral Reef often has run behind on ADR seating times and 2) It has to be one of the noisiest places to eat in all of WDW. For these reasons, we now only go here for the earliest lunch seating.

The food is okay, portions are decent and if you think your kids, at their ages, will be excited about the aquarium, then it will probably be okay. We find the service to be a bit on the slow side, but once you are seated, it should not be a 2 hr meal.

Hmmm...this is a tough one. We went there last year, and my DH and I really didn't like the food...but my kids LOVED the atmosphere of this restaurant...If I were flying solo with the kids, I'd probably take them there again since I know they enjoy it so much. I'm in the process of planning our trip for May, and my son was bummed when he didn't see Coral Reef as one of the choices.

As for service, we were there during Memorial week, and I don't remember the service being slow...but the wait for our table (and we did have an ADR), took close to an hour. This was the only TS during our stay tha we had such a wait.

I love Coral Reef...I don't think we were there for 2 hrs and we were a group of 6 adults. I think the kids will love it there!

The steak I had there was the best flavored steak I ever had. Very good!

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The kids will love the atmosphere. Have a great time!

I just did dining reviews for both Teppan Edo and Coral Reef. You can check it out in my Dining Report in my signature.

Coral Reef is great for kids because of the aquarium. The fish are like characters at a Character Meal.

Yes, thank you. I read your reviews, and liked that you both rated each restaurant for decor and service. Thanks for posting!. Now leaning towards keeping Coral Reef. :scared1:

We had a lunch reservation in September. Our food was good and so was the service. I didn't notice that it was noisy. The atmosphere is very entertaining. I have read that they get behind on reservations, so maybe you might consider lunch instead of dinner.
