Steve Irwin (crocodile hunter) dies..........

Walters also spoke with the Irwins' children, Bindi Sue, 8, and Bob, 2.

Now that I don't think is quite true. We've been told that the family decided not to have Bindi interviewed and from the report that wast just on tv, it was said that Terri spoke on behalf of Bindi.

I believe it when she says she had a fairytale marriage. I could tell he ~really loved her and she him. I saw them on oprah years ago and terri was talking about how wonderful their 'intimacy' was together...steve turned bright red like he could not believe what she said. it was really cute.

Yeah, Steve was an amazing bloke.... he was so passionate about so many things.. injured animals made him cry.. his relationship with Terri was so unique.. they were like the other half of each other... it was meant to be..

I can just imagine Steve blushing too... it sounds so like him... :)

I wonder if maybe she just talked to them like a "Hi, how are you" type thing but not on camera as part of the interview?

I don't feel like I'm explaining very well what I mean.

Like I could see maybe if they were walking around the zoo and they were pointing out animals to Barbara Walters but not to turn the cameras on and have an in depth conversation. Just guessing.

Yeah I get where you are coming from... I just don't know what is true anymore.. we've seen clips of the interview and it's just Terri and Barabara walking through the zoo.. no sign of the children. Then it's been said that the children were kept out of it as Bindi esepecially has been put through enough.

So, yeah who knows.. you guys will find out I guess when the interview airs.. we may or may not get to see that here.. as I say we've seen clips of it.. diff bit and pieces, so I'm hoping they show us the entire interview after it's been aired over there.

I think you just hit the nail on the head with that.

As an example, my niece and nephew were struck by lightining this summer. What was being reported on the news and in the papers was not always 100% true. Some stuff was a little bit off whereas other reports were way off. Like the reporter who said that the day after the accident my nephew was back on the lake (they were struck while out in the water). Um, no, my nephew was still in hospital the next day and he didn't get in the water for at least a month afterwards. As a matter of fact, my DH, our children and I were the ones to help him over his fear and get him back in the water.

I wish everything we read and heard was 100% true but I think that afterwhile a spin gets put on things in the interest of keeping the story alive.

Having said that, I'm looking forward to the interview and will believe without doubt everything that Terri says. She'd be the one to know.

It's like the Russell Crowe thing, about him wanting to play the part of Steve in a movie.

He is saying that is not true...so it sure does make you wonder just how much truth is in what the media portray.

I do agreee though that to Interview Bindi is not necessary.. that little girl has been through enough already.. she spoke at her Dad's memorial service and I personally believe that is enough.

Imagine just how she would feel, being asked by some media dude.. how she feels about losing her Dad. It would be horrible for her to have to answer that kind of thing.

This is Terri's time to tell how she feels.. to talk about how losing Steve is affecting her..how it's going to change what she does.. how it's going to affect her raising the children alone etc...

That's just me.. maybe others see it differently.

I agree completely with you! :thumbsup2

I had heard about Russell Crowe wanting to portray Steve but until now hadn't heard that he said it was untrue. And like I said, my nephew was in hospital the day after so how or where or when or from whom (or who? That confuses me so much) did the reporter get the info that 1 day after being struck by lightining my nephew was out swimming? I mean hello? Ever heard of burns? :sad2: So yeah, where do they get this "inside information" from?

Bindi's world, her day to day life, it's totally different from all our our lives but even so ... I guess what I mean is that death is hard for those left behind at any age but at 8 and then to have it played it out on TV ... IMO it's best that she didn't participate in the interview. Let Terri have her say and hopefully she will begin to find a bit of peace and healing with this. :grouphug:

I was just wondering if BINDI was a common name is Australia? I love it. I watched the memorial and I can't belive how strong that little girl was. I am sure her Dad, her family and her country are so proud of her! Amazing

Yup, I agree .... let Terri speak and hopefully it will begin the healing process for her.

As to the media.. it does make one wonder where all their info comes from..

Being struck by lightening is not something you take lightly and as you say he was in the water when it happened.. how likely is it that anyone under those circumstaces would jump back in the next day.. reality check needed here.

As to Russell Crowe.. when I first heard it, it just didn't seem quite right..not that I know Russell personally or knew Steve personally.. but I do think Russell had more respect for Steve than that. And of course now it is being siad that he denies any of it, he doesn't want to make a movie.

So, therefore once again.. someone has maybe taken a little bit of a conversation and made it into some huge story.. or they just decided it would be good idea.

I just wish they would get their facts right before they start blabbing to the world.

Actually no Bindi is not common.. when I first heard what Steve and Terri were naming their daughter.. I was stunned.

Bindi is a weed with prickles, so of course that was the first thing that came to mind when I heard the name..

I actually think it was kind of a made up name by Steve.. from what I recall they didn't know what they were going to name her and then it just occured to Steve that she would be named Bindi.

If I remember correctly, he named her after his favorite Croc Bindi. Her name is Bindi Sue, Bindi after the croc, Sue after his dog Sui.

I believe I remember he named the croc Bindi after the area he caught her. He shortened the area's name & called her Bindi.

Steve named her after a crocodile-Bindi and a dog-Suie

A weed with prickles? That's awful. I never knew that.

I've always thought it was a cute name. Thought maybe it was a popular Australian name. She is such a cute little girl too.

Bindi weed (also called bindii, bindi-eye is a weed plant known for its barbed seeds.

"Crocodile Hunter"Steve Irwin's widow says she hasn't seen the film of her husband's deadly encounter with a stingray and that it won't ever be shown on television.

"What purpose would that serve?"Terri Irwin said in an interview with ABC's Barbara Walters scheduled to air on television Wednesday in the United States and Australia.

Irwin, 44, died Sept. 4 when a stringray's barb pierced his chest while he filmed a TV show on the Great Barrier Reef. A memorial service held for him last week was broadcast on three television networks in Australia.

Irwin's friend and business partner, John Stainton, has seen the film. He told Walters he never wants to see it again and doesn't want anyone else to see it, either."It's just a horrible piece of film tape,"he said.

American-born Terri Irwin said she was on a research trip in Australia with the couple's two children _ 8-year-old daughter Bindi and 2-year-old son Bob _ when her brother-in-law reached her with the news.

"I remember thinking, `Don't say it. Don't say it. Don't say it,'"she said."I looked out the window, and Bindi was skipping, skipping along outside the window. And I thought, `Oh, my children. He wouldn't have wanted to leave the children.'And I knew it was an accident. It was an accident so stupid. It was like running with a pencil."

Reading the last post (interview excerpts), I don't know if I'll be able to watch the interview. I want to but I cry so easily. I know I'll be a blubbering fool 5 minutes into it.

BTW - Nutsy, did you get / buy one of the wrist bands? Just wondering what they looked like, if they were very nice or what not. Thanks!

Wrist bands are not available until 15th October Belle.. we have to wait to get the coupon out of the paper and take it along to the newsagents and hand over $1 for the wristband.

Judging by the pic in the paper they looked qutie nice.
