jealousy certianly brought out the witch in greer. what a TACKY thing to be saying when the grief from all the people are still freash and raw.

Thanks, nutsy, for the updates...i'm glad to hear terri's parents are flying out to be with them. she needs them i'm sure.

I just read that d@mn article and that chick is a bleepin' jacka$$! She absolutely has no clue! How could she says such things? She's obviously not right up there! She has the common sense of a pickle!! :furious:

Terri's parents would have arrived by now and would be up at the Zoo with Terri and the children. But she really needs her family right now.

I'd just like to say that Germiane Greer can stay in London and if she were a half decent Aussie she would not even dream of saying thet things she did about Steve.

Yeah, so she has her opinoin.. sure, but now is NOT the time to be voicing it and especially to the world wide media.

She is a HAS BEEN and is after some limelight for herself. I actually think she may have been jelaous of Steve. He had a huge following world wide, and he was so genuine and down to earth and a fair dinkim Aussie, which is a heck of a lot more than can be said for her.

I'm not surprised that you would take issue with Ms. Greer's comments, Nutsy ;) .

I'm rather appalled as well. I think one could argue that it is Germaine Greer who is "exploiting" Irwin's untimely death to recapture some limelight and publicity for herself.

And it is really low to attack someone who is dead, and not able to defend himself. Shame on you, Germaine Greer. :sad2:

(By the way, I've never heard that term "fair dinkim Aussie" before, but I LOVE it!!! :) )

Hey Nutsy, thanks so much for all the updates.
I do have a question that you may be able to answer. Have you heard anything about Wes? I'm heartbroken for him.

No, we've been worried about him aslo. But he's not been seen or heard of since the tragic event. I reckon he's probably by Terri's side and feeling mighty awful :sad2:

I feel sorry for all of them up there as even tho they may be staff, they were all one big family, so each and every one of them are taking this mighty hard.

Good point and he did touch so many lives everywhere too.

His Dad said due to the massive outpouring of grief from the public that they would hold a public memorial service for Steve so the public could say their goodbyes

That's good to hear. The family needs their private time in laying Steve to rest. I'm glad we'll get to say our goodbyes to him too. He deserves it! Rest his soul....I still can't believe he's gone! :sad1:

I was really happy to read earlier today that they woul dbe doing a public memorial service. I think for such a popular and beloved public figure, that his audience needs a chance to say goodbye as well.

Irwin changed my life: colleague

COLLEAGUES who were on the boat when Steve Irwin died say the Crocodile Hunter changed their lives.

Townsville-based stinger researcher Jamie Seymour and American documentary maker Philippe Cousteau today paid homage to the naturalist, describing him as "genuine" and "an inspiration".

Mr Cousteau, the grandson of famed ocean explorer and conservationist Jacques Cousteau and Dr Seymour were working on The Ocean's Deadliest documentary with Mr Irwin on the Great Barrier Reef on Monday when he suffered a fatal stingray wound.

Dr Seymour is a senior lecturer at James Cook University, whose recent research has included the joint investigation of deadly box jellyfish.

Today he said outside Mr Irwin's Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast that the man universally known as The Crocodile Hunter had profoundly touched him.

"The three to four days I spent with that guy changed my entire life," Dr Seymour said.

"He is a damn honest guy ... who generally cares."

Mr Cousteau said he didn't know what to expect from Mr Irwin when he first met him to make the documentary.

"I was very privileged to be part of that," he said.

"He had never-ending energy. He put us all to shame.

"He was an inspiration I will never, ever forget."

Dr Seymour described controversial feminist Germaine Greer – who said the animal world had finally taken revenge on Mr Irwin – as an "oxygen thief".

Just found this on a Holden Forum..:thumbsup2

I didn't think the pickle comment could be topped but the oxygen thief is a great one!!!

So glad they are doing a memorial service. I hope the show it here.

Yes the memorial service will definatley be happening, the venue is the question... originally it was thought it would be held at the Zoo in the Crocoseum but that only seats 5,000. It's looking more like it will be at a football stadium which seats about 40 -45,000. As to when it will be, we've not yet heard. but I would think the family would want to lay Steve to rest first and grieve in private before anything else happens.

I forgot to add that there a chance that Steve may be buried at the Zoo.. special permissioin would not to be granted from the local council but apparantly it is quite acceptable should the family wish to have him buired at the zoo.

I guess I just always assumed that he would be buried at the zoo. I can't imagine another place better for him.
