Steve & Barry's?

I've lost a couple of sizes (pounds wise), and need some new clothes (as I found out this morning when I tried to put on my Eddie Bauer pants and they were WAY TOO BIG ) so I may go to our S&B soon. It's kinda far-ish... not too bad, but not close, maybe, a 45 min drive? Is it worth it or should I just go to Target?

not worth a 45 minute drive, IMO. I have a S&B 5 minutes away, I'm not impressed. And they have filed bankruptcy, so their return policy may have changed. Go to Target!

I"m surprised people are saying such bad things about the Bitten line...I think the clothes are adorable and really good quality...I have 3-4 pairs of the bitten jeans and numerous tops I've been wearing and washing for over a year and they are still in perfect condition...
Neither DH nor I have had issues with any of the clothes we've purchased there falling apart after over a year of owning and wearing them regularly...I"m not one to buy something just because it's cheap if it's going to fall apart pretty soon afterwards, I'd rather spend a little more and get good quality, but luckily I've not had any issues with their clothing thus far.

I think the quality is okay for the prices. Some of the expensive mall stores (I'm talking to you, Hollister! ) aren't any better.
My kids and DH all bought Starbury's last year. They've held up as well as other brands. Better than And One brand. I fully believe they are worth what we pay.
I may have to drive up to Cincy for the sale...

It is so weird to hear such different experiences. I think for the price we will give them a shot. Target charges more than that for boys shorts, etc and they are not top of the line as far as quality goes either!

i Love Steve & Barrys! I love the bitten line (sarah jessica parkers line) of jeans. I have had a pair for a few months and they are great. I have washed them and they are not cheap at all with tax they are $9.60 a pair here! The bitten line goes up to a size 22 and have short, regular and long lengths!

dd loves the dear line from Amanda Bynes. Hundreds of washings and the tees are like new. Yes, very thin, but that is the stlye.

I have a dress from the Bitten line. I actually saw it on a woman and had to ask where she got it, it was so cute. Shocked when she said S&B, and I was there the next day to get it. I've washed it a lot and it's holding up fine. I get compliments every time I wear it.

Wow-- the last time I went to S&B the highest size they had was a 10. I must have the "skinny girls" store. It's the only store I know so I can't compare.

I'll let you know what I find. Our store is in "the bad part of town" so I have never been. However, I have to go in that area tomorrow, so I will probably stop in and check it out. Considering we only have two plus clothing stores in town, I doubt our S&B carries any either. We'll see!

I thought I remembered SJP saying she was committed to making plus sized clothes as well. Up to size 22 sounds right. I think she wanted to make sre those not blessed with big checking accounts but blessed with curves were included too!

This store is a good example of you get what you pay for.

The overall quality is very poor ~ hence the cheap prices.

I went to a S&B for the first time last weekend all excited to see their products, especially after being on SJP's website and seeing they go through size 22. The highest size I saw there was 16 and there were one or two things that size. I barely even saw any XL's!

I had high expectations and went away empty-handed AND disappointed.

I bought some jeans at Steve & Barry's last year for my son to wear to the barn (we have a dairy farm). I bought 3 pair and he has worn nothing but those 3 pair to the barn daily since last summer and they are just starting to wear out!

If S&B were closer, I'd be running out to get him some more, but sadly they are over an hour away in Syracuse. With gas prices the way they are, I cannot justify a "shopping" trip up there.

I think it's poorly made but you get what you pay for. I bought a pair of khakis. The first time I wore it out, I found a hole. Then the sizes are off too.
