Steppes In Africa; One Letter at a Time- ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!! (4/26)

Namibia for the Skeleton Coast
Botswana for the wildlife
Zimbabwe & Zambia for Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River

Also maybe Cape Town for the Cape of Good Hope and the fog over Table Mountain

Well, I’m extremely disappointed. I had spent quite a long time crafting a whole post with some images for the big reveal this morning, but it has disappeared in its entirety!! So here is a much more abbreviated version…

Today is the day for the big reveal. I am beyond excited to let you all know that

🇹🇿I’m headed to Tanzania!!!🇹🇿

…for nine days out in the bush and four days on Zanzibar!!!

I’ll be headed to five national parks including Arusha National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, the Serengeti, and Ngorongoro crater. As a bonus there’s a N.P. in Zanzibar called Jozani where we’ll likely see the rare Red Colobus Monkey. I’ll also do some snorkeling and beach lounging.

You might be asking how I got to this point and it starts from when I was very, very young. If you’re as old as me, you might remember the Disney’s Tru Life Series. It was something I always looked forward to watching. Beyond that, I’ve always loved the jungle Cruise and now more recently Animal Kingdom’s Africa area. Years ago, I took the Wanyama Safari tour and was blown away by the up close encounters with the animals. And now it’s time I get to experience the real deal.

Normally, I plan all of my own trips and organize the logistics, but this was just too complicated and foreign to me. I started doing some research and ended up going with Wilderness Destinations for developing and booking my itinerary. It took quite a few video conversations with Andrew, my concierge, to settle on an itinerary that was something I could afford, and sounded truly amazing. I am all but guaranteed to see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebra, and countless other animals up close and in their natural, wild environment.

As you read this, I’ll be making my way from Nashville, to New York, to Nairobi for a long layover, and then onto Kilimanjaro, and then lastly into Arusha where the Safari will start.

As I’ve said before, I’ll try really hard to post a picture or two along the way but most of these bush camps are going to be very remote, without cell service entirely, and only with spotty Internet.

That’s about all I can muster for now.

Kwaheri, Warafiki!!

Five! Wow!

I think I’m older but that’s not something I’m familiar with.

Wait… those weren’t real animals?

That’s so cool. Seriously.
Kwaheri, Rafiki!!
Have a great trip!

I’m guessing you are going swimming with the sharks in South Africa and throw in an African Safari or two, and Victoria Falls
You definitely got the African Safari or two part correct! And I did consider South Africa but settled on Tanzania in the end.

Namibia for the Skeleton Coast
Botswana for the wildlife
Zimbabwe & Zambia for Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River

Also maybe Cape Town for the Cape of Good Hope and the fog over Table Mountain
All of those would be incredible places to go and I did consider Buss as well as South Africa, but ended up further east this time.

Have a great time! I think you will have an incredible trip. :)

I was close with my guess. I included Tanzania and safaris. :)
I’m definitely going to have a wonderful time. I don’t think there’s anyway I could not! But I’m still in the middle of my travels to even get here and currently hanging out and lounge.
