stepmother at 1900 PF

I have a dilemma! I planned on dining at 1900 PF on our next trip, but when I mentioned the characters we would meet to my daughter(5), she said, "No way! Cinderella's stepmother will be mean to me!" Has anyone who's eaten there feel the stepmother was intimidating for the kids? I'd rather cancel ressie than have dd sad or afraid.

She stays very much in character. She doesn't smile or laugh. So yes she has an attitude but they are pretty good at reading the children and if your child isn't into it they back off.

We took DD there when she had just turned 3 and the Step Mother scared the bee-jeezes out of her. When she came over to our table my DD must've just taken a bite of food and had a little bit on her face and the Step Mother said very sternly to her, "wipe your mouth, child!" Nothing horrible but between that and her being a pretty towering figure, DD's eyes were wide as saucers. Didn't make her cry or want to leave or anything, but she won't go up to the Stepmother for a picture when we're in the parks now.

She was very snotty but in a very funny way with our nieces but they loved it, the littlest one was 6 and she said that the stepmother was just like the cartoon...

she is very in character like the pp said. DD was dressed as drizella tho, so the step mother treated her just like drizella. She paraded her around the restaurant. She said some things to the other kids like leave me alone im with my new daughter, stuff like that. DD also thru a fit like drizella does and stepmother was very proud of her and made sure to let us know. She kinda ignored the other kids at the table with us, DS and another boy. They really didnt mind tho. We LOVED the stepmother, so much better then the sisters.

If you (or your dd) tells her that you're not interested in a picture (or talking to her) she'll go away. Sometimes huffing but we've never had a problem with it. DD is 10 and doesn't like her (was scared of her last year in fact) and has never had her picture taken with her. I've found as a character she's great and yet also very savy in terms of kids and their reactions.

Go and have fun - it's a great character meal!

My little ones were 2 & 4 and 3 & 5 on our last two trips and loved her each time. They insist on seeing her again this year. She's very much in character, but not scary to the kids at all. My DD complimented her on her jewelry and my DS inquired about Lucifer....and of course we tell her how "lovely" her daughters are.

I thought she was pretty tame - but maybe I was expecting more. With two little boys who had never seen any Cinderella movie, they weren't scared at all.

We just got back with our 4 and 5 year old. She does stay in character, but they were not at all scared. They thought she was funny. They played some music and she came back and got my 4 year old son to come out and dance with her.

This is a good description of Lady Tremaine. Our son was 3 yrs old at the time when we ate at 1900 Park Fare - he went up to hug Lady Tremaine and she put her hands on her hips and said "I don't do hugs" (very snobbish/with attitude, of course). Our son didn't think she was mean or scary - he just smiled & laughed at her.
