I met Stephen King back in 1990, we used to live at Pease AFB NH and my sister was at Loring AFB ME. During one our many drives up there to visit my DH stopped in Bangor to drive past Stephen King's house - cause I always mentioned it when we drove past Bangor. Anyway, as we are driving towards his house we see him, walking down the street, all dressed in black, reading a paperback. Good enough for me but not for DH, he stops the SUV and says hi. Mr King was nice enough to talk to us for about 5 minutes, even reached in and shook my then 5 year old's hand. He wouldn't sign the book of his that I was reading at the time though -- said he only signs at official book signings, can't say I blame him -- he'd never have life but DH did the asking not me. He was very nice though and I'll always remember those 5 minutes with my all-time favorite author
