I have a shark steam mop that DS bought me for Christmas. My kitchen floor is laminate. Every time I use the mop it leave nothing but streaks. The mop head gets washed after every use so it is clean. Got streaks the first time I used it so the mop head was definately clean. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?

Well, I am not aware of any laminate maker that approves of using a steam mop. It ruins the floor over time, and it may streak it too. Swiffer makes a wood floor clear, and Bono is as good if not better.

I like my floor mate cleaner, I know it is more expensive but it does a great job. It vacuums, washes , and dries the floors.

I agree, there is no way I would regularly (or ever) use a steam mop on laminate flooring. It could cause the floor to delaminate. I vacuum my laminate floor and use Don Aslett microfiber mop I bought from QVC.

I don't know about laminate, but we use an oreck steam mop with tile. We have a spay bottle with a vinegar water solution we spray down, then steam.

I also have a laminate kitchen floor but I don't use my steam mop on it. I sweep it and mop over it with a Swiffer. I run a damp towel over stubborn spots with my foot. I use the steam mop for the ceramic tile in the bathrooms and entry way. I always mop the areas first with floor cleaner and water. Then I go over it with the steam mop to get any remaining dirt and give it a deeper clean.
