Steam dryer questions

I have to buy a new dryer and am thinking about getting a steam dryer. My main reason would be to get wrinkles out of clothes that are line dry. Would a steam dryer do that? Or if they can't be dried in the dryer could they also not be steamed? Hope that makes sense.

What brand do you have and do you like it? Do you have the matching washer? My washer is 11 years old but still working so need to decide if I want to get the set or just a dryer.

Before someone asks, I did do a search and only found one thread from last year.

My LG steam washer is 2 years old... still using my 11yr old dryer (see not everyone *needs* a matching set )

What I like about the steam washer is that I can wash the clothes using steam instead of using hot water. (Regular length cycles)

The machine does have a "quick steam" option where it fluffs around dry laundry for 20 min of steam. It will do up to 4 articles of clothing. I use it for girl scout vests (don't want to wash them and ruin the patches) my table runner (has velour and catches lint) throw pillows.

As far as clothing, it will take out wrinkles, but certainly won't come out "pressed" For example, I iron dh's cotton dress shirts. It will take out wrinkles from sitting in the hamper, but not in any shape to wear without being pressed.

I don't think (for me) I will get the steam dryer when my old one goes kaput. A little too redundant to have both. I also think that if I were one to prefer line drying, I'd invest as little as possible in a dryer... just using it to fluff things up.

Clothes don't come out of the "steam fresh" all smooth and ready to wear like the commericials!!!

That's just the kind of information I was looking for. If I still have to iron the clothes than I really don't need the steam feature. Less wrinkles would make the clothes easier to iron but don't really think that would be worth the extra cost. Thanks!
