Steam cleaner for carpet

I am thinking about getting a steam cleaner for my carpet. Can anyone recommend one and tell why you like it?

Yes, the Hoover spin brush steam cleaner is awesome. We have three dogs, the smallest has, shall we say "issues". I use ours all the time and it really works. I use Resolve solution and if there is a stubborn spot, I will spray it with Nature's Miracle oxy orange which works over time. I go over the rugs a few times with just the suction and within a couple of hours everything is dry.

Our living room/dining room, stairs and hall all have light beige carpet and our bedroom had off white and it looks pretty good after ten plus years. Additoinally, if you have a lot of carpet, then economically it is totally worth it. The cleaner is under $250, so after a cleaning or two you are ahead v. hiring a team to do it.

I always joke that the dogs ought to pray at the altar of Hoover, it is the only thing that allows them to live after an "incident"

I have a Whitewing. They are about $700 but they clean carpet, tile, grout, windows, barbecues, etc. The best thing is that the tank holds enough to go 2 hours and the steam temperature and pressure is adjustable. I have tile floors except for 2 of the bedrooms so I use it mainly for tile and grout but it works just as well for carpet and upholstery.

Pakey, according to a review of the whitewing you should have your carpets professionally cleaned for more heavy soil. With 3 kids and two dogs I need a serious carpet cleaner. What do you think? It sound like the stong suit for the whitewing is hard surfaces.
