I remember reading about a Steak place in Kissimmee that everyone was raving about. I think it was Dave's but am not sure. Could anyone please refresh my memory?

Probably "Charlie's" on US 192 opposite the Celebration turns and by Kobe Japanese Steakhouse.

My opinion is that the service is pretty dreadful there. Always a long wait once you are seated although the food is always good. I'd go upto Sand Lake Rd for the best steakhouses in the area. Great choice of restaurants.

Charley's is always listed in the airline books as one of the top 10 steakhouses in the US. I think it is very good and our service has always been good. Shulas is also suppose to be great, have to try it next trip.

Just a quick vote of confidence in Charley's (US 192, near I-4)...I'm a very seasoned traveller and feel qualified to say Charley's IS one of the best steak houses in the country (strip mall location aside)...to me, it's worth going out of the way for as I don't think you can go wrong when in the mood for beef.

Shula's (in either the Dolphin or Swan) is also very good but not specific to Disney or Orlando- there are about 20 Shula's steakhouses across the country.

Hope this helps!

We just got back Wednesday. Had Dinner at a place on 192 the opposite direction of Celebration. Called Black Angus Located on the Econo Lodge property. We thought it was very good. Prices we paid was $59.00 for 2 dinners and cocktails (he had 2, I only had 1).

Yeah, I'm with the others here, Charlie's is about as good a steak house as you'll find in and around Kissimmee. And coming from someone who isnt a particular fan of steak, thats no small praise.

I've used both the one mentioned here on the 192, and the better known one on I-Drive near the Mercado, and both are excellent. Great food, courteous helpful staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere.

As I said, I'm not the worlds biggest beef lover, but Charlies is somewhere I always visit when in Disneyville. Great steaks, but if you dont fancy cow, try the pork chops, fantastic and my favourite !

July,

I think the Black Angus you are talking about is on the corner of US 192 and US 535. It's about 3 miles from Celebration heading west towards Splendid China , Formosa and US 27.

Have to say I had a really poor experience, if not the worst ever, at this Black Angus. I ordered lobster and you could smell it on the way to the table. I sent it straight back and the manager actually bought it back. I said it wasn't acceptable to which he replied "I've tasted it and it's OK". I said "you've tasted my food?" "Yes" he replied.

There was a large party of us (around 10 people) and they all stopped eating. We got the check for the drinks bill, told the manager we were not eating at a place where people taste your food and went to eat at KW Kools across the street !

Have to say I've never been so disgusted in a restaurant in my life and I called the DBPR as a result.

That was 3 years ago and I said I'd never set foot in the place again so I'm interested to hear your comments, good or bad.

What did you all have to eat? Was the service good? Was the food hot when it arrived?

Have to agree with Charlie's. I make it a point to stop there every time I make a trip to Orlando. We've had some great service there in the past and their steaks are excellent top quality. I end up getting stuffed there, just wish I could make it to all their yummy desserts!

Sorry you had such a bad experience. If I had heard this before. Truthfully I probably would never had tried them. You know the saying about. Bad service and word travels to 25 people those 25 people tell 25 more people and so on.

We had Steaks. DH had Black Diamond and I had Filet Mignon, we also had appetizers and cocktails.
Yuck just the thought of what the manager did with your Lobster makes me so sick.

Thanks for sharing.

Personally I hope they had a new manager.
makes me want to call and ask.

:( :(

July,
Sorry I didn't want to make you feel bad about the meal you had or even give you second thoughts. I was just genuinely interested in your experience as if I get enough reports I can always be tempted back.

I've learned this the hard way! I went to Morton's for my birthday about 4 years ago and the service was very poor. So poor in fact that the manager offered us a return meal free of charge. I never took him up.

Anyway about 2 years ago some friends of mine started pestering me to go back. I managed to hold out for 18 mths before they beat me and I went back this year. I have to say, we had a great meal and I've now been back several times since with differing opinions...never once has it been as poor as the first time though !!

For me, it very often comes down to who is serving you. At various restaurants we have our favourite staff and they always get rewarded well and asked for time and again. :)

Anyway, tonight I went back to another restaurant I haven't been to in a year....again through poor service. (And I know the manager well :() He talked me into going again and I have to say it was excellent. The server was great and the food excellent.....where did I go..? China 1 near to Champions Gate.

Just goes to show, you shouldn't always judge a place on opne bad experience !
