Anyone ever stayed at the resorts using II? Westin St. John, Royal Islander Club La page, Royal Palm Beach Club in St. Maarten? These look very nice on the respective web pages, just did not know if any personal experiences....
Thanks!
Still trying to decide-Carribean, DCL, or Hawaii. Airfare to Hawaii is a killer! Maybe ruling out Hawaii, Can drive to Port Canv, Fly to Carr. is cheaper than Hawaii.
THANKS!

Take a DCL eastern cruise and check out both resorts in St Maarten and St John as research for the following year's trip.

I have stayed at St. Maarten but not the resort you are looking at.
If i were going to go to the Caribbean i would go to Aruba and stay at the Marriott Ocean Club, absolutely gorgeous and the 2 bedroom villas are approx 1200 sq. ft. 100's of great restaurants
and numerous things to do. One restaurant i would recommend is called El Gaucho, they have argentinian beef that is delicious.

There is a web-site called TUG (timeshare users group) that you can join and timeshare users rate the resorts. I think the cost is $25.00 for 3yrs, but don't quote me on the price but it is an excellent website for information on timeshare. They even rate the DVC Resorts

Thanks for the info! The Westin at St. John looks VERY nice on the web site, and I heard from friends St. John is a really great place to vacation, just wanted to hear other people's views.
I also went to tripadvisor.com and they had good reviews of the Westin as well.

Regarding St. John - it is IMO one of the most beautifull places on the earth. That is why we are interested in doing an exchange at the Westin at some point. We've only been there during the day while on a cruise, but both DW and myself said right then we'd love to go back and do a full week. We also loved St. Thomas and that is right next door only a ferry ride away.

I am looking for an exchange in 05 or a DCL cruise. I probably have ruled out Hawaii, as Airfare $$$, but so far the front runners are: DCL 7 night Eastern, St.John Westin, St. Marteen resorts, and Grand Cayman resorts in the Member book. I have heard a lot about TUG, and have not joined, maybe now is the time to read about the resorts-don't know why you have to PAY though....
(not that I am griping about $15, but you can go to other web sites to read about the resorts I am talking about).
Thanks so far Diser's

Regarding TUG, you can access their message boards without paying and I have learned alot from them, but I will probably join so as to read the member resort reviews and also possibly to do exchanges thru them. I guess you have to pay because it is a non-commercial site and someone has to pay the bills. Also, someone posted about tripadvisor.com - I went there and wow is it a neat website. I had not heard about it before, but I've subscribed to their newsletter and will check back there regularly. Thanks to whomever posted that link.

I have been going to St. Maarten for over 20 years, you really can't compare the resorts there to DVC. But they are great in their own way, if you want more info or info on the island, let me know.

We recently did an exchange for the Sunterra – Flamingo Beach resort in St Maartin. (we couldn't get an exchange in St.John). The resort and location were very satisfactory. There is a couple of nice beaches, nice pool, a half dozen restaurants and a casino within walking distance. Right up the street was a resort La Vista, that has a real nice restaurant, and appeared to very nice. Check out both of these resorts.

We visited St. John on the Disney Cruise and FELL IN LOVE WITH THE ISLAND. It is simply one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. We knew we wanted to return and at the time it wasn't an option with DVC so we bought at the Westin. A year later they added it to DVC, but I believe it is very difficult to get with a trade, so I guess it is good we own there as well so we can be sure to be able to go when we want. Our first trip is this fall. I will be happy to report back after our visit if you are still interested.
