Well, we've made the step up from AllStars, CBR and PO (well it was DxL when we were there) What are the things "not to miss" at the Poly? We love Kona and enjoy 'Ohana for some of our meals. Tell me about the resort -- staying there 5 nights over Halloween 2002 plus a couple of nights at BCV. (dw and I - grown up kids on an escape vacation). Looking forward to Food & Wine Fest -- what else?

Sam, you will love staying at the Polynesian!! The question about the "not to miss" things is a tough one. I think the thing that takes us back to the Polynesian is the little things and the service is excellent! Being able to watch the water parade every night from the beach or from your room is great. If you don't want to fight the crowds for the fireworks, you can take it all in from the resort, on the beach in a hammock, on your patio/balcony, etc.. The new volcano pool area is nice as well. Its kinda cool to come out of the pool and see the castle. The torch lighting ceremony is nice and the relaxing music played throughout the resort adds to the illusion. The quiet pool is nice, however its farther away from the bar (they make a pretty mean pina colada :) ). One of the things that I like is that by disney standards it has relatively few rooms (around 900... i think?) so the resort never seems crowded or noisy to me. All the plants, flowers and landscaping is very calming and I have never noticed "the smell". Its very laid back and relaxing. Is it a little dated? Sure, but I think thats what gives it character. If you can, try the concierge service, its great to spoiled for a few days! Enjoy! We're going in August so I'll let you know if we come up with anything else.

Find out what time the fireworks over MK are, then book dinner at the Poly, window table about 1 hour before "show" time. The dinning room dimes the lights and tunes into the music and magic of the fireworks display. Our family did this in April 98 and LOVED it. Enjoy the Poly, Cuz!!

The number one “must see” at The Poly would be…….My Brick!!
Located on the Luau Walkway overlooking The Lagoon!!

Well, just an opinion……Lol…Lol

You will love The Poly.

Dont forget the Torch Lighting Ceremony Tues-Sat at 6:00pm. Its a little 5-10 minute fire dancing show outside the GCH. Its really fun if you can catch it and it adds to the awesome atmosphere of the Poly.
Hope you enjoy it there as much as we do.

i think the best thing about the poly is the fact being in the resort takes you away. It is such an escape from the hustle and bustle of the parks, you feel like you are in the tropics. Very relaxing.

Not to miss - take a night walk from the poly to the grand floridian, very nice. Sit in the hammock or on the swing benches with a loved one, very nice. The smell of the flowers !! gorgeous. Take pics with all the tikimen !!! Watch the ducks swim in the quite pool in the morning, sometimes while other people are swimming !!!! Grab a nice tropical drink in the lounge.
Check out the water fall in the lobby. I could go on and on and on. Poly is my fav !! Just back from the beginning of may.

Have a wonderful time !!

Dont forget to check out "tikiman"s dis site he knows lots and lots about the Polynesian.

We were just at the Polynesian May 12 - 19 and enjoyed ourselves! Kona Cafe is a favorite - ate both dinner (3x) and breakfast (1x) there.

Others before me have made good suggestions. Here's mine - go out in the water mice! (the two seater boats you can rent from the marina) 7 yo DS & I took one out while Dh & 3 yo DD napped. We had fun zipping around and riding the waves from the ferries.

Have a good time!!

Jill

You'll have fun here, this is the best resort on property

We did the Polynesian in 10/2001. Got a great AP rate of $199 (included tax). Best parts were the relaxing feeling, the breeze, the tropical atmosphere and the monorail to MK and back to the resort (for those relaxing breaks) and finally the EWP. We saw this every evening. Have a magical stay and ALOHA.

In addition to the items others have mentioned, I have a different memory that is a little strange. I'm an insomniac. I got up one morning at 4 am and went walking outside. I smelled the most heavenly smells imaginable. They were baking the desserts for the Kona Cafe. It was very peaceful at that hour and the aromatherapy was to die for.
