Staying positive for May trip (even though everything new is in June)

5/16-5/26 for us. I think the only disappointment for us is mine for DD5 not getting to ride FEA. But she never even knew about it, so not really an issue. And we have FPs for E&A at MK. We were positively surprised by the delay of the BTMR refurb and the extension of F&G. There are also still numerous things we still haven't done at each of the parks. Overall, I think the delays have been more of a relief for me than a disappointment since I don't have to try to work the new things into our plans now. We want to see the new things of course, but as at least one PP noted, the initial demand will make getting to see them more challenging.

We're 5/9-5/16. Since so much of this new stuff was up in the air for "Spring 2016" we decided to ignore most of it. I actually got a little stressed when we thought ROL would be open, because I would have had to turn schedules upside down to make it fit. I'm thrilled we got BTMRR back, we'll see A&E in the MK...and anyway, its the kiddos first trip, everything will be magical for them and they won't know what they are missing.

The only thing I'm kind of hoping for is that the new ice cream place at the Boardwalk is open when we get there...just so convenient.

I have been doing a lot of whining about delays and near misses given our May 1st-8th trip but I know we'll still have a great time. I now have a great excuse to go back earlier than usual to see soarin, AK night time stuff, frozen, Disney springs enhancements etc.

5/10-5/18 here. Boy, these past few months, planning wise, have sure been quite the roller coaster, huh? As one previous poster mentioned, while disappointed that we'll be missing all of these new things, it's almost a blessing as being there when all of these open could become quite the cluster. This way we can eagerly look forward to them during our next trip while the inevitable kinks get worked out.

After all, it's a vacation to Disney World - I'll never be disappointed in that.

I agree...more I think about it more I'm kind of glad we won't be there when everything first starts cause it's gonna be a madhouse.

I am excited about our June 12-21 trip, one on hand, but on the other, I kind of almost wish I just knew that stuff wasn't going to be open or that the old stuff would be open (like A&E meet and greet, Star Wars dessert party)
Being in limbo over so many things is bothering me especially since I am traveling with 2 3-year-olds. It's not like we can wait in 4 hour lines in 95 degree heat or do everything spur of the moment

We are going May 21-27. I have come to think of it as a Disney rollercoaster. The ups and downs of the emotions on things going to be ready and things not going to be ready. At the end of the day, we are going to be at Disney making magical memories for a lifetime so it doesn't really matter that some of those things are not going to be functional.

I feel the same as OP and previous poster - as we are headed to WDW almost the same dates. Seeing all the delays is a bit of a downer. But, we also feel there's still a little hope that something might possibly surprise us and have a soft opening during our stay. And, we just found out that AK is staying open till 11pm on our only AK day this trip. So even if nothing "new" is running that day, we have 4+ more hours to be in the park, which is really nice.

I do plan to keep checking daily in the next 30 days in case something new shows up on FP+. As long as nothing on our must-do list unexpectedly CLOSES, I'll be a happy camper :)

If anyone is in the parks (18th to 24th) and see someone squealing, it's me. Everything is new because I've never been before I'm so so so so excited.

For people who know they will be going back, then the disappointment is a lot easier to deal with. For people on once in a lifetime trip who chose dates based on rumoured/planned new attractions, it's a bit harder pill to swallow.

That being said, WDW is in transition and has been for several years now, so there is no perfect time to go. I really think you just have to pick your dates and enjoy what is there when you arrive because it's going to be awesome regardless. Waiting for x to be ready can put you off indefinitely and life is too short for that.

Maybe during May, crowds will be lower because those who like to plan last minute trips will wait it out for the new openings. Wishful thinking :-)
