Staying onsite and FOTL

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered a million times, but humor me please! If I book one night at one of the onsite hotels, I can use the FOTL access on both check-in AND check-out day, right? And I can get my room key early on check-in day, even if my room isn't ready.

Does it matter where/how I book my room? What about where I get my park tickets....can I still get them through UT, and use the FOTL?

We are planning on taking a night away from our embassy suites hotel which we are using with points to pay for a room at Universal, just to utilize this perk for 2 days at Universal. Does this make sense?

I picked up the passes for the six people in my party.

We've picked our keys up before 8 am in order to take advantage of early entry. The hotels have no problem with you doing this.

i have checked in and received my hotel key a bit after 7 in the morning.....

someone is always at the check in desk in the lobby.

and once you check in, you can have your luggage held until your room is ready.
you are given a claim check for security reasons.

so, don't put the ticket stub inside your luggage .....

We checked in around 7:30am since we planned on heading straight to IOA for early entry. Check in took just a few minutes and I was able to pick up Express Pass/room cards for all four people in our family (even though DH and one DD were waiting in the car).

The room was ready around lunchtime and we got a call on my cell phone to tell us the room number.

The whole thing worked out just like it should!
