We are staying at the pop the end of may. I booked a perferred room but now am wondering if I should ask not to be on the first floor. I know it can be good for the strollers but I am wondering if its very noisy. I am not sure if its even worth mentioning for the amount of time spent in the room. What do you guys think???

We were on the first floor at the Contemporary (garden wing) in November and there was a running/stomping toddler above us. I know this because the day before we left I heard the noise and went outside to see what I could see. And there he was, looking out of the sliding glass door. It did cause a few problems in the early morning (non park days) and late evening (we have two little ones and did not stay out too late - this was around 11:00 pm at night more than once). So, it can happen anywhere depending on who is above you.

We have had rooms on the first and second floors at POP. Both times in the 50s. We did not notice a difference in how much noise we heard from outside.

I sympathize with the prior poster about stomping on your head. When DD13 was little, we'd always tell her she had to use quiet feet at hotels so the other people wouldn't get annoyed. She complied very well, but then said "well, can't we just stay on the bottom?" For several years, we asked for 1st floor rooms so we didn't have to do the quiet feet reminders.

When I stayed at POP, I asked for a 2nd floor room beacuse it made me feel a little safer with people wandering past my door. Yes, if you are on upper floors, people can wander by the room too, but it's less foot traffic.

And speaking of foot traffic, my only complaint about POP was the fact that there was a child who kept running past my room early in the a.m. Normally I wouldn't care, but this child had very loud soles on a cement floor! But that can happen anywhere.

We had always had 2nd floor rooms at moderates until we stayed at pop and CBR. At Pop there were lots of cleaning carts passing regularly VERY early am. Never had this at CBR because we were furthest from the main pool area. I did like 1st floor as its so eay to get to your room when you are exhausted after a day in the parks.

We love love love 1st floor rooms. They are so convenient. Our preferred room at POP was right by the lake - we'd keep the door open, while the kids played on the lawn and chased the ducks. :goodvibes

We were on the ground floor at the YC and it was fantastic, no noise at all

The thing about noise at any resort is not where your room is located but your neighbors and you can't control them at all. You could have hard walking people above you. You could have a family who lets their kids jump off the beds. Or, you could have a family next to you who every morning comes out of their room and stands right in front of your door to get organized and talks loudly. You could have a housekeeper who has to go up and down the outside several times as guests leave their rooms. You can have that on the first floor, the second floor or the third floor. You can have that at a deluxe, moderate or deluxe.

If you don't want noise, a preferred room isn't the way to go. Those are closer to the food court and bus stops.

We stayed on the ground floor at the Pop in June & never had any noise issues- & I'm a light sleeper :)

We have had rooms on all the floors at POP. The only problem we had with the 1st floor were the lizards. I know that they climb, but we never had problems with them when we were on any of the other floors.

By no means were wo over run with them but we would have to be carefull when we opened the door, because they liked to sun themselves on the warm door and I was afraid they would jump off into the room when the door was open. I was paranoid that they would come in uner the door, but never found any in the room, thank God :worship: .

We stayed on the first floor of POP last August. We where in the 70's section right near the large foose ball figures and we never heard any noise from above us. It was the perfect location. A short walk to the pool, main building and the bus stop.

Glad to hear about those who did not have problems with the first floor. September will be our first trip to POP and I requested ground floor too!

I don't do elevators very well and don't want to have to climb stairs at the end of the day.

As I have gotten older (42) it seems that about 2 minutes after I get off an elevator or when I walk on a dock (like at WL catching the boat to MK or at DTD catching the boat to POR) I get super dizzy..to the point of falling down and I get terribly car sick if riding in the back seat....needless to say we always fly!;) But I don't get sick on the rides???? Figure that one out? Well, maybe just a little on the backwards portion of EE!:rolleyes1

We can't wait to try POP! Lori

I love the ground floor!!! No stairs to climb with luggage and packages!!! I couldn't tell the difference in the noise.

Thanks to everyone for the help!!! I am new to the boards and everyone has been so helpful. It's also nice to share my excitment with. I think my dh is tired of hearing all the disney talk!!!

For families with small childrens first floor is A+. On 2005 we requested first floor at ASMU and did not have any problems at all. Now we are requesting the same thing at ASMO Toys Story Building...Let's see if we have the same luck.
