:earseek: I didn't know staying off site was an option!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
But seriously, we tried it once or twice, way back when we were young and didn't have kids! :confused3 NEVER again!!!! We always stay onsite, and love every minute of it. Some other people actually tell me :rolleyes1 there are "other" amusement parks in the area!!! :confused3
Going to Disney is more than just going to theme parks. The whole place is one big giant theme, so whatever magic you get in the resorts is part of the whole package, and we buy it time and time again!

In case you didn't guess, I voted for stay on site!!

as wonderful as wdw is to stay onsite,,,there are so many many reasons to stay offsite:

first off: US and IOA is a must do if you love rides. I personally love HRH.
room is twice the size of any moderate room at wdw for the same price.
Both parks are themed beautifully...so to discount them is wrong and anyone who has not ventured outside WDW is making a mistake.

Busch Gardens is also another enjoyable place to visit as well as Sea World.
You have to broaden your Horizon.

OKAY< okay, I know WDW has the magic..but there are other places that need to be seen and enjoyed by both adults and kids.

And I believe you should experience them for yourselves.

For me. I love, love WDW

but also love staying at HRH when I visit US, IOA
and stay at Marriott vacation clubs when I tour the rest of Orlando.

I enjoy each and every stay

Last year was our first year to stay on site. My grandparents used to live right outside Orlando, so we never needed a hotel. But, now after staying on-site I wouldn't do it any other way, especially with children. Everything is so convenient. We're staying at Saratoga Springs in Jan. for a little extra room, we are so excited.

I'm sorry but I can't agree with that. We don't go to Orlando, we go to Walt Disney World. We aren't going for the rides as much as we are going to get away from the rest of the world and immerse ourselves in the World of Disney. It's not wrong to do that, nor are we making a mistake by not wanting to step foot out of Disney on our vacation. Everybody has their own idea of what the perfect vacation is.

We NEVER stay offsite.

As DS gets older, I am sure we will visit Universal Studios, but we will still stay at a Disney resort & just rent a car for our Universal days. Or maybe extend the trips, stay in an Universal hotel for a couple of nights & do just the Universal stuff, then move over to a Disney resort for the Disney portion of our trip. That way we dont have to deal with a rental car ever.

I used to stay offsite until once when we tried the CBR. After that we vow never to stay offsite. We've moved up from the CBR, to WL and then finally CR tower and the Poly. Now if we can't afford onsite at a deluxe we just wait til we can. I'd rather not go to WDW if I can't stay where I want.

Usually we go to WDW and never leave it while on vacation. Every 5 years or so we add in Universal. When we do plan on visiting US we stay at HRH during those 5 days at US only. The last trip we did 14 days onsite at WDW and then 5 days at the HRH for US. I wouldn't do either park if I couldn't stay onsite for both. Just not worth it.

Have always stayed onsite, however, we found a couple days over Christmas with nothing going on, so we are staying offsite for two nights. The Holiday rates were just too high onsite and we couldn't justify it, so we found a good deal at DTD, but next October it's back to the Poly.

We do other things than wdw and still stay onsite it is very magical to stay onsite. I love the magic thats what I go for anyway!
