What are thoughts on transportation to Universal when staying on Disney property?

Id probably take a lyft (i find them to be cheaper than uber, but you can check both) just checked, Contemporary to Universal was about 30$, so 60 round trip.
If you rent a car for 30, you have to pay 25 for parking at Universal, plus you have to go get the car. Jumping through too many hoops to save maybe 5$. Lyft/Uber, just walk outside and go cars are usually there in 5 minutes or less.

You'd probably be returning from Universal late at night, returning the rental car in the morning, so you'd have to pay parking at your resort as well...unless it's a DVC points stay.

For rideshare, I would definitely have both Uber and Lyft apps on your phone -- and price check. Both companies use both dynamic pricing and surges and their fares do not move together. At one moment, one may be cheaper and a few seconds later that could change.

Just did this in reverse last week. It wasn't that much. Uber from Cabana Bay to Beach Club in the morning was $18.32 plus tip. Lyft from Contemporary to Cabana Bay after Christmas party was $21.78 plus tip. Universal is charging $4 extra for pickups in the garage, so walk to Hard Rock instead to go back.

We did a cab and it was 50.00 with tip each way. Uber and Lyft will be less.

We always use a cab, but we don't have a smart phone (dinosaurs, I know). personal choice to not be connected all the time.
We tried Mears transport one time, but they never showed up to pick us up and we were late for park opening. So never again with Mears for us. Taxi is a little more expensive and if we had a smart phone, we'd probably go with uber/lyft.

We do this often, since we have the AP that gets EP after 4:00. We use Uber and drop off at Hard Rock and walk in/out

I think the uber/lyft is way better than renting a car cause the parking was $22. Honestly you should consider a one night room at lowes because the fast passes are amazing. You get them for two days the day before and after.
We kept our disney hotel those days but we were at ASM so it wasnt a big deal cause its a cheap room.
