staying in room with DVC member, how many ways to split DDP payment ?

Hoping some DVCers can help me out.

We're going to be taking a trip in June. The DVC member is going to be staying in room with us.

Each person wants to pay their own DDP. We do not want anybody else covering charges for anybody else, and then people owing others money back.

To keep it simple, each person would like to pay their own charge when the DDP is added to the reservation.

We would need Disney to accept 4 different Visa cards for the purchase.....any ideas if that is even going to be possible ?

Would it make it easier to do the order over the phone vs. online ?

Thanks :)

If you want to keep it simple, have each person pay the DVC owner in advance and let them charge it on one card. Pay them cash, write a check, mail them a gift card, whatever. That is much simpler than trying to pay with 4 separate credit cards.

OP since you have a room and the DVC member is staying w/ you do you have a cash reservation through CRO or a points reservation through DVC?
I think the rules for adding the dinning plan are a bit different for DVC v. a cash reservation.

that is exactly what we do not want to do

Its a girl scout troop traveling together.

The dvc parent is one chaperone paying their own dining plan, there are two leaders that need to pay their own dining plan, and then the troop debit card to pay for their girls dining plans.

Nonetheless, it is the correct answer. Only the DVC member themself can pay for the dining plan on their own DVC reservation. You could buy a Disney gift card and give to them for the amount of your plan, but the member still has to personally add it.

I don't think you can do it like that online.
Sounds too complicated to me. But the simplest way to find out is to ask the member to call to see if this can be done.

I've used two forms of payment in the past by phone - gift card and cc, but I've never had multiple people pay in advance.

I once rented points to someone that wanted dining plan. We had to do a conference call so they could give their card number.

Sounds like your member would have to put a lot of effort into doing this YOUR way. I would find it terribly inconvenient.

Why not forego the dinning plan for this trip? Use the troop debit card for the girl's meals and snacks and each adult use their own card for their individual meals while there. Sounds like a lot less hassle than trying to use 4 cards to pay for the plan before you go, not to mention keeping track of it all once you get there, how will you know if someone bought an extra snack (ex: a water counts as a snack) w/ their magic band on any given day w/ so many individuals enabled to charge meals/snacks?

I'd recommend simply giving the person cash to cover the cost of the dining plan. Or, as mentioned, getting a Disney Gift card to cover the cost.

thank you all for the un-solicated recommendations or your opinion of how you would handle such trip.

all I simply asked was could the payment be split 4 ways.

Believe me this has nothing to do with my way of doing it.

Our council has strict guidelines with purchases over X amount and those rules apply to our situation. In addition to those regulations, there are also additional regulations reguarding parents making purchases for the troop and writting checks to parents for things that are considered "personal" expenses.

As I stated previously, the only information I was asking is could the payment be split 4 ways.

 sorry they tried to help you

If all four of you get on a conference call with member services, you might be able to do what you want. They might let you, but the policy is to not. All the "unsolicited" advice was to help you understand the proper and reasonable way to accomplish what you're wanting to do. I'm not sure how that qualifies as "unsolicited."

Did you ask the DVC member who is booking the room? Have they called MS? We gave the advice based on experience and what would make it easier on them.

We were able to use 2 different credit cards to pay for the dining plan last November. We did it over the phone with DVC. I am a member, my sister is not. However as long as her name was on the reservation we were able to use her card too. Good luck! :)

I think gift cards might be the way to go here if you can't all get together with your credit cards. This way you can still charge the purchase on your own credit card buy purchasing the gift card.

The simple answer is no.

Having done Girl Scout trips I understand.

So here is my recommendation. Get this down to two cards. Troop debit and one other. Have the unrelated adults work this out amount themselves. Then call DVC and explain this. If they seem confused ask for a supervisor. They can do two cards but 4 is pushing it.

And from one Girl Scout Leader to another...."what Council doesn't know won't hurt them."

As long as you aren't putting the girls at risk and your parents trust one another - sometimes you need to ignore Council's rules - or you wouldn't be able to get much done at all with your girls. This particular rule seems to be in place to make sure that the parents aren't embezzling from each other - if no one in your troop is likely to do so - or bring allegations of such behavior....council need never know how money was handled.

As noted, you'd have to call with each payment and it's unlikely they'll let you use 4 but all you can do is ask. The other issue is that the functioning of the DP likely raises the very risks the scout rules are trying to prevent since the cards are not segregated and one person could use the credits of another either intentionally or unintentionally.

This was my thought as well. Even if you can pay four ways, the plan is still just one plan, and all the credits are combined, making it impossible to do what is trying to be accomplished, which is to have 4 segregated dining plans on one reservation.
