Staying @ Fort but visitng other areas

I want to start planning a trip for June 07. Is it worth staying at the Fort? We want to do MK and MGM but also Universal and Sea World. Are we better off staying somewhere else and just driving to MK or MGM or is it about the same price to stay somewhere else? Confused an d not sure what to do?

FW will be more expensive than any other campground in the Orlando area, but it is worth is.

I really can't remember any campgrounds in the direction of Sea World/Universal, so FW may even be the closest for what you want to do.

Now, off your specific subject but here goes.... I was really disappointe with Universal. I think they are trying to be a coaster park more than anything else. But, they are not quite there. For coasters I'd go to Cedar Point and stick with the Disney parks for the Orlando area.. JMHO

We go to Ft Wilderness for a couple of weeks each year and usually fit in some off-site adventures.

I have to say, even if you have to drive a bit, it sure beats breaking camp and setting up somewhere else. We always make Ft Wilderness our home base and it is always great to be greated at the end of the day "Welcome Home" when we pull up to the Guardhouse.

The one year we went to Universal, we were also disappointed in the experience. For Theme Park - WDW ... for Amusement Park (coasters) Cedar Point!!! End of story.

Definately make FW your home base. You will be glad you did. I know there are some others, but nothing compares. Enjoy!

One thing to consider is how to get to the other parks. My friend flew down and camped and they did not have a car so it was harder to get to the other parks you mentioned. If you have a car I would use FW as your home base.
