Hi staying at Beach Club Villas for 2 night before our cruise. We are not going to the parks. I have a question regarding Magic Bands. Do I still need them? Assuming Yes. I have bands from our last trip and I noticed in the mydisneyexperience app that they are still listed. Can I link to this reservation? How do I go about doing that?

MagicBands are not linked to specific resort reservations and there is nothing actually stored on a MagicBand. MagicBands link back to your MDE profile which contains all of your actual plans (room, admission, FP+ selections, etc.).

If your existing MagicBands are less than 1 year old and from a prior resort stay, during the customization process there should be a link to decline them.

You will need your MB to enter your room or to charge to your room.

You can request a KTTW card instead of the MB, you get it at the front desk. You will need to refuse the MB on My Disney Experience though, under Magic Bands.

I thought I read somewhere that cards are hard to come by.

You never NEED a magicband.

I'm not saying that you have to not use it because of privacy, but the info about getting a card is IN their privacy disclosures and RFID stuff.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/my-disney-experience/frequency-technology/

"If you prefer, you may elect to use a card instead of a MagicBand. Cards contain a passive HF Radio Frequency chip and cannot be detected by the long-range readers."

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/my-disney-experience/my-magic-plus-privacy/

"
What are the RF Devices used for MyMagic+?

The benefits of MyMagic+ are delivered using either radio frequency (RF) technology-enabled MagicBands or RF cards ("RF Devices"). The RF Device you receive is unique to you and allows us to authenticate you and the benefits associated with you.

You can use your RF Device to enter the theme parks and water parks and to redeem FastPass+ selections if park admission entitlements are associated to your RF Device, to access your room if you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, and to make purchases at select Resort locations."

"Guests can participate in MyMagic+ and visit the Resort without using the MagicBand by choosing a card"

"Guests participating in MyMagic+ always have the option to use a card instead of a MagicBand."

They say it several times in that section of the website, so it's important stuff. I think that there was a period of time as they moved from always having cards to having mainly bands that the CMs were being kind of, um, unintelligent about it. But just last November we were flat out offered cards by the CM at SSR.
