staying at same resort over and over

I'm just curious as to why some people always stay at the same resort or two. Does it have to do with familiarity or fear of the unknown?

I think yes to both- you know you like it...you may not find another theme as appealling. Also, there is the sense of coming "home" to your favorite resort.

We stayed at POR for three years then tried POFQ for two. (I know...huge change! :rotfl2:)

We started branching out to deluxes last year only because of the 40% off room only. Now we would like to try all the resorts eventually. But if you had asked 4 years ago, I'd have said we would never stray from POR/FQ.

Some of it is that they've tried or visited other resorts so they stay at the resort they like best.

I've stayed at or visted each of All Stars but I prefer to stay at Pop for the values. I've visited CBR and really didn't like it so I stay at one of the other moderates. I love Wilderness Lodge and the Poly so those are my first choices for Deluxes.

I'm guessing because they like them. :thumbsup2
Some people like myself like to move around. We almost never stay at the same resort two trips in a row. Some people find something about a resort that they really like and hang on to it. So I would say that familiarity is the biggest reason.

For us, it was a little of both. We have stayed twice at POFQ, loving the smallness, peacefulness of the resort. Never any real problems when we stayed there! For this trip, the family just wanted to go back to POFQ but I wanted to try something different. We like the Moderate level, so doing my research I came up with CSR. It's like I slapped my family in the face! "We can't stay there!", "what if this happens, or that happens", "what if we don't like it?", "Its so big!", "We love POFQ!". Sheesh!!! Anyway, like usual, I overruled them all and we are heading to CSR on August 29!!:rotfl:. They are totally ok with it now, but it was a tough sell, for sure.

Now here is hoping everything goes well...

I have stayed at several different resorts but my favorite is POFQ. I love to stay at POFQ and stay there as much as possible! It is small and compact, close to everything and it is quiet and feels like home. I like taking the boat to DTD. The people are very nice and as helpful as they can possibly be. The resort is beautiful any season. I cannot say enough about this wonderful resort!

I know what you mean about the family not wanting to change.
The only reason I got mine to try POFQ was because the POR foodcourt was being rehabbed at the time.

THey were great with the POLY, but when I wanted to try CR this year, I think they were afraid they wouldn't like it as much as the Poly. But I over ruled them and said we are trying CR. And they loved it !!!

Have a great time at CSR!

We do try to stay at different ones, on occasion, so we can see what they are all about, but we tend to stay at the Beach Club pretty much all the time because of the location, the atmosphere, and the accommodation is perfect for our family. Of course, the pool. Our kids can't get enough of the pool.

We have Done CSR the last 2 years, and are only moving to CBR this year because we couldn't get CSR. We know we like CSR, we know our way around, and they have queen beds were our reason for choosing a second stay. with that said I am excited about trying something new this trip, even if I was pushed into it!

We've stayed at WL twice and the BLT. Our family is BIG and we have small kids, thus making MK a prime area. SO, those parks are easier for us. We would like to try other eventually, but not until the kids are older.

This year, we are staying at OKW. Why? Considering buying there for DVC PLUS the 2 bedroom villas. Otherwise, we would probably be at a monorail resort...or WL.

We have stayed only at Pop while on site and love it, so why mess with a good thing. Cost is somewhat a factor for us, and we only are there to sleep so a bed is a bed. Maybe someday will venture out of our comfort zone. I am sure the Deluxe Resorts are just that-Deluxe, but then our time might be spent at the resort instead of the parks.

We have stayed at four of them over the years -- the CR, the All Star Sports, the Poly and the CSR. We continually stay at the CSR now (eight of our last nine visits, and we'll be there again in four weeks). For us, it is a few things. 1) Cost -- we just don't find the deluxes worth the amount of money they charge and can no longer justify paying for them (one of these days we will do a split stay with CSR and AKL and CSR and the BC as those are the only two deluxes we want to try...but for now, we are only going to Disney for four days as we spend time in Marco Island afterwards with friends; 2) we are very comfortable at the CSR and it offers everything we want in our resort -- including queen beds and a spa (I get a massage every trip) and we love everything about it; we've visited the other moderates and would possibly consider POR-Riverside at some point, but the others just don't appeal to us (and as for the values...did it once and won't do it again).

We have stayed at every resort from value to deluxe, we now stay at the favorites.

I just got back from my most recent Disney vacation, and my first stay at the Beach Club. I can definitely understand why people want to stay there over and over...it's fabulous!

We never stay at the expensive resorts, we go to the moderate and value resorts. We try to stay at a different resort each time if possible. I am very excited, 4 weeks from today will be our first time at Port Orleans French Quarter. Thanks to all the great postings on this webiste, I have seen pictures, etc., but can't wait to see it myself.

We only stay at duplicate resorts when booking is an issue.:cheer2:

I like trying different resorts and have done that but have also stayed at the same resorts twice. Some of it has to do with what my family wants to do (extended family that is) and I just go with what they want. Some of it has to do with the discounts being offered and which resorts actually have availability. And yes, I do like certain resorts more than others so it is nice to go back to a resort that I enjoy. So I'm in between - I'll try new resorts and go back to favorites.

I've stayed at six different WDW resorts.

The selection depends on budget and availability.

Budget trips tend to be Pop Century. I love its proximity to EPCOT. If traveling with my BFF, when we split up, she takes the car and I take WDW transportation. I'm on vacation--I refuse to be in a hurry 95% of the time! *LOL* All Star Resorts tend to be a bit less favoured due to shared buses--we usually travel during lower crowd periods.

Moderate budget can include any of the moderates or AKL or WL, since they are on the lower end of the deluxe spectrum and can be fairly reasonable. AKL tends to be left out in the cold due to the location and I really don't care for the food. I'm a horrendously picky eater--everything is PLAIN!

Deluxe depends on budget and availability. I love the EPCOT resorts and plan to stay in the Contemporary Tower some day. It was my first love at WDW! *LOL*

We have done a lot of budget trips since Pop Century opened. I'm looking forward to the new resort--Art of Animation?--in the future. I hope they'll have regular rooms in addition to the family suites--which are seriously needed! :)

We stayed at YC twice in a row because we liked it so much the first time - but didn't love it the 2nd.

I will always choose a resort in the Epcot area because I love being able to walk to two parks.

We stayed at the BC on our honeymoon in 1994 and haven't stayed anywhere but the YC and BC since then-about 11 times including our honeymoon. Growing up, I used to stay at the Wilderness Cabins with my family and the first night of our honeymoon we stayed at Dixie Landings (POR). No other resort says "welcome home" quite like the BC :goodvibes I just don't have any desire to stay at any of the other resorts we've eaten at/visited on WDW property. I'll admit I'm a Deluxe snob :rotfl: because I like the indoor corridors, the balconies, and of course the location!!! Epcot is our favorite and to be able to walk right in is just awesome! :thumbsup2

We stay at the same place partly because of familiarity, and because the Polynesian just feels like home to us. We really do just love it there, the convenience, the atmosphere, the views, the service, it's all wonderful.

I feel like I should go somewhere else, to try something new, like I might be missing out. We've had vacations booked at POR, WL and GF, and just kept ending up back at the Poly.

DW has me almost convinced that we should try the GF on our next trip, we'll see.
