staying at same resort over and over

It's all about affordability.

If you enjoy a resort. Why not visit it again?

We've done all the moderates except for 1.

2 Deluxes.

1 Value.

A few Swan/Dolphin stays and numerous offsite homes.

If you want a repeat of a resort...go for it.

Personally, I go for what I can afford. When I enjoy a resort, I don't hesitate
to do a repeat.

I have stayed at most of the resorts and have my favorites. Where I stay now depends upon the reason for the visit. BC with my dgd for the pool. BWV with a boardwalk view for Christmas season on a solo trip as I love the decorations and the little cozy bar plus the boardwalk entertainment. Animal Kingdom for long restorative trips for the quiet and the animals and restaurants, plus AK is my favorite park. Next trip I am staying at GFR!!!! Always rejected it as a poor value, but got a PH discount and decided to see what I think. Growing to like the EP resorts the best for location and beauty and restaurants and walking to the parks....

In our case, we tried various resorts in the mod and deluxe level, and for what we use the room and resort for, we have settled on POFQ. Love the food court, boat ride to Downtown Disney, the first on, first off for the busses, it is our 'home' when we are at Disney. Very comfortable, informal atmosphere and that is what I want on vacation.

For us, it was a little of both. We have stayed twice at POFQ, loving the smallness, peacefulness of the resort. Never any real problems when we stayed there! For this trip, the family just wanted to go back to POFQ but I wanted to try something different. We like the Moderate level, so doing my research I came up with CSR. It's like I slapped my family in the face! "We can't stay there!", "what if this happens, or that happens", "what if we don't like it?", "Its so big!", "We love POFQ!". Sheesh!!! Anyway, like usual, I overruled them all and we are heading to CSR on August 29!!:rotfl:. They are totally ok with it now, but it was a tough sell, for sure.

Now here is hoping everything goes well...

I'm one who switches around, but a couple of years ago had finally settled on POFQ as my favorite resort. I loved the smallness, only one bus stop, first stop coming and going to the parks even though it shared with PORS, and the boat to DTD. I had stayed at all four of the moderates (plus three Deluxes and three Values), but had not had a good experience at CSR the one time I tired it. In fact, I said I probably would not ever go back to CSR. However, thanks to KatMark and my friend Kat here on the boards, I decided to give CSR another chance last Oct. I had an absolutely perfect trip and fell in love with the resort. Since then I went back to CSR this past Dec and then did a split stay this past May at AKL and CSR. We're going to CBR in Oct, but I'll be back at CSR in Dec (again doing a split stay at CSR then YC). The only reason I'm doing a split stay in Dec is because CSR is not available for my whole week with the AP discount. Go in with an open mind and you may find you've found a new favorite. I miss the smallnesss and the boat to DTD at POFQ, but love the wonderful bus service, better food choices, and the remodeled rooms with queen size beds at CSR.

I think it is a combination of preference, familiarity and possibly because for some, experiencing every resort is not a priority. I would like to try quite a few more, but there are also some resorts that just do not appeal to me and no great discounts are going to persuade me to stay there. I guess it works both ways. :confused3

we have tried out several different resorts but the beach club has got to be one of our very favourites the pool is awesome, although we are goin to saratoga next year hope it meets all expectations!!:cool1:

I have only done one resort more then once and that is the Poly.

Depending on what our plans are for a certain trip, who with us and where the best deal are, all contribute to where were staying.

When we travel with other adults we usually stay off site at Timeshare. When we travel with Grandchildren we pick the best resort of our needs on that trip. We picked GF this trip because it a special trip and some of our children and grandchildren are visiting with us. There will be 10 of us 5 adults and 5 children. (1 1/2 to 13) I figured a monorail line resort would be our best choice, and got a great rate.

We will be returning in May with DS and DGS for Star Wars Weekend and I thinking the Boardwalk might be the best area for that trip.

I think it is an interesting question... I hope to try as many different resorts as possible. :wizard:

We own at BWV and that is our favorite so we book there the most. Over and over as you say. But for our first trips we used to do split stays and try the other deluxe or dvc resorts for a few days.

We really do like to try a lot of them and are open to the idea but so far we haven't found one we like better than BWV yet.

I'm just curious as to why some people always stay at the same resort or two. Does it have to do with familiarity or fear of the unknown?

Yes to both. We stay at POP because we are comfortable there and enjoy it. Also it is a monetary issue. BUT now my boys are getting bigger, so we're going to eventually try something bigger(hopefully they put a couple of suites in POP like they did at the All-Stars:))

We stay at ASMo almost every time. By doing so, we can afford to go more often, and since we usually travel with multiple families (we had 4 rooms this past June), it is affordable for everyone. I also like that it is more "disney-themed" than other resorts (we often walk through many of the other resorts) and it now feels like home.

We spend little time in our rooms, so the accommodations there aren't that important to us. Perhaps as we get older and get a few more chances to go ourselves we will try other resorts, but as long as our family is growing, I forsee us staying at the ASMo so we can bring them all with us.

Actually putting a whole hotel of them together right across the lake! :cool1:

We alternate between CSR and CBR but not because of familiarity or fear of the unknown. We prefer to stay moderate because the deluxes are just ridiculously priced in our opinion. POR doesn't appeal to us. So since that only leaves two moderate choices, both with themes, rooms, and food we enjoy, we choose to alternate between those for now.

we've stayed at all the mods, deluxes (except CR.), and DVCs (except BLT -prob next year we'll try it :))

after many, many trips since WDW first opened, we found we enjoy the BWVs more than any other resort. the amazing array of activities, beauty decor, walk to 2 parks, and the most stunning views anywhere on property make it our piece of heaven :cloud9:

We have always stayed at ASMusic or Movies. We were going every year for quite a while. So when our youngest DD wanted to bring a friend, we of course stayed here . We ended up getting 2 rooms , so they could have one for themselves. Of course now they are older my DH keeps asking when we can stay at the AKL............ i tell him when we hit the lottery..........I would like to stay at the AKL, the Poly , and CBR in that order. Maybe someday. Now we will be bringing the Grandkids!!!!

we have a tried a diff resort every time. We were going to go back to bc this year but the 40% off came out - bc wasn't available so we switched to boardwalk. My ds12 wants to stay at every resort at least one night. we drive down the day before our "real" stay starts and stay one night at value or mod. so far we have stayed at pop (2x), pofq, this year will be por. got to hit the allstars to finish the values and csr is only left for mod. hoping to stay at cr next year and then will only have yc left for deluxes. we have had good experiences at all levels - value- deluxe.

Some people would ask "why go to Disney over and over?" Because we enjoy it. We tried a several of the resorts but there are 3 that we really enjoy so we always go back to them. Vacation is precious I don't want to mess around with staying places I don't like since we do spend a lot of time at the resorts.

I think it is both of those reasons for most people who choose to stay at the same resort trip after trip.

We look at it like - you only get to WDW so many times in your life, why not make each trip a little different and new?! :goodvibes We love trying new resorts. Yes, sometimes we are disappointed, but sometimes we are pleasantly surprised.

I do wish there were more choices in the moderate price range. We have done all 4 of them, and CBR twice. It kind of limits trying new resorts. We are doing a deluxe this upcoming trip, but I'm not sure I can justify doing that every year. We love CBR and it is our absolute favorite, but we would never go there trip after trip. We will however probably stay there about once every 3 trips - because it is in our price range and we know we love it!
