This resort use to be our home away from home with the kids. Now it costs over $300 per night for this moderate?

5% (or more) year-on-year increases, even during periods of low inflation and even negative wage rises, have really started to make the pricing structure unreasonable. However as long as people still keep going (and Port Orleans runs close to 100% capacity for most of the year) they will keep doing it.

The cheapest rooms for 2019 by the way were $232, if you don't mind Standard View on some random weekday in January. The peak price for a Royal River View room at Christmas is an eye-watering $422!

The value resorts are in the 150-199 range and I do remember them being I believe $99 or so back in the day. Thanks Andre for commenting. It's been awhile since I've been on this thread.

They were even cheaper than that I think, I seem to remember the Values launched at around $69 per night.

Disney's price rises are well beyond inflationary, and are more based on "what can we get away with without reducing occupancy levels so much that we cause an overall revenue drop". Which as a business with shareholders they are completely entitled to do of course, and indeed it's a very sensible business model. However as an aspirational family destination, it's perhaps not a very ethical policy in terms of inclusive customer relationships.
