We are planning to stay at pop in July/05. Oringiall booked at AM but heard there was a dance competition and competitors stat at all stars. I've heard good and bad about Pop. My husband and I are travelling with a 10yr old. Any advice/suggestions.

Hi!

We stayed at Pop Century the week after Easter 2004. It was the band trip for my daughter's high school marching band (they stayed offsite) and we were only able to go for 4 days so we decided to try something new. The resort was nice--nearly identical to the All-Stars. Be sure to take your 10 year old to the lobby where they have the shadowboxes of memorabelia from the different decades. It was amazing what my 12 year old had never seen before and the stuff really brought back memories for my husband and I. The food court was pretty standard, but the tv dinner option was fun and yummy.

Have a great time....wish I was going this summer.

I just got back a week ago. We had a great time! It was my first stay at a Value Resort and I was nervous, but we ended up with the most fun housekeeping we've ever had! The Cast Members at Everything Pop were wonderful as well.

It answered so many of my questions ahead of time and made me feel so prepared for our stay that I almost felt as if I were coming home.

DS14 and I stayed at POP last March and we loved it. Your 10 year old will love the game room. I swear DS would have stayed there all day if I had let him. The food court can get busy especially at night but the food is not bad, about like any fast food restaurant. DS did get the BBQ plate one night which came in a tray kind of like the old tv dinners we used to have as a kid. The BBQ was very good. DS also liked the pools. He mostly stayed in the bowling pin pool as it was close to our 50s building. I requested one on the 4th floor facing the lake and you could see the fireworks at Epcot at night which was fun. Our room was very quiet. One thing to remember, they have a block of some type on the air conditioners so that they will only go so low. I knew this going in and called maintenance right away and they changed it so that it was very cool in our room. I am not that hot natured and it was March but I hate to be hot at night when I am trying to sleep. Also, I found there was not enough room in the drawers for our clothes but we managed. I did bring way to many clothes.

We LOVE Pop! There are so many pluses to staying there (great food, bus service, atmosphere, etc). I hope ya'll have as great of a time as we did! :wave2:

We are staying there this weekend and can't wait. I have taken a tour of the property and it is very bright and fun. Also, I have been told that when they built Pop they took into consideration the things that didn't work from the All Stars and improved upon them.

you may not be away from the groups.

lots of these families go to WDW often and PC is much, much closer to WWoS where the competition is than AS.

so they will stay at PC.

try to get in the 50's section.

This is so helpful to me, going through my changes :sunny: and the hot flashes are horrendous, so a cool room is a must for me. I'll know to request the block taken off as well. Thank you :worship: so much for posting this. :disrocks:

Another helpful DIS poster left the following instructions for fixing the AC block yourself.
(Sorry, I don't remember the OP (I'd like to give proper credit), but I've saved this info in my trip planning folder. Have never tried it, but I thought I'd pass it on... )

"On the thermostat push the power button and the down arrow (that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there willbe the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. The maintenance man said that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours. We found that it stayed on bypass for a couple of days at a time. It was great to come back to a cold room or not wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat again. The CM that did this for us said it was not a problem doing this as they do it for pople all the time. Guess they get a lot of complaints."

Hope this helps !!!
