Staying at OKW for the first time

While waiting for our BWV waitlist to come through for the first night of our holiday trip, we decided just to book two studios at OKW as a back-up. We've never stayed at OKW before. I really wanted the 2BR, but since we'll be there for one night, it didn't really make sense to use the extra 11 points. The only things we requested was nonsmoking and adjoining villas, but I'm sure it'll be busy, so that might be difficult for them to fulfill. Is there anything else I should request, or just leave it the way it is and hope for some good luck? I think we'd probably want to be on the 3rd floor with a water view, but it sounded like it would be too much to request (n/s, adjoining, 3rd floor, waterview) especially considering it is the busy holiday time.

Also, how is the boat to DTD? We'll probably do our usual first night dinner at Wolfgangs. :)

Any other suggestions to make the most out of a 1 night stay at OKW?

Only that there are only three buildings with elevators if you have a mobility issue.

We went in November for an "extra" trip and were low on points, so we stayed in 2 studios. My parents went with us and we requested "same building." This worked out just fine. We were at one end of the first floor of #49 and they were at the other end. It took all of 30 seconds to get to each others' rooms.

One of the best things about OKW is that it is about impossible to get a bad room. They are all clean, large and pretty. The landscaping in front of the buildings is lush and green. The views are all pretty be they of water, golf course or sometimes foliage (which offers privacy).

You can request "close to Hospitality House" or "close to Turtle Pond" (the other pool with snack bar and fun), or "Southpoint" which is way down the end and gorgeous and private. You could ask for "close to a bus stop" or "close to a pool" (laundry rooms are at the pools), whatever suits you. But be advised that all the buildings have charms of their own. I hope you enjoy your stay. We LOVE Old Key West and have never once been disappointed with our room or location!

Thanks for the replies! ;) I can't wait to try OKW!

For a first timer, is it better to be close to the HH, Turtle Pond, or South Point? I'd kinda like the full "OKW" experience. :)

Thanks again! ;)
