Hey,

This board truly rocks! This is my family's 1st trip to Disney. Hubby & I went as kids & teens in the :hippie: 70's-80's, but we're old folks now & want to take our girls (ages 4 & 9). Has anyone stayed at the All Star Movie resort? We're not overly fussy about our rooms. We're just happy to be able to get there. But I've not heard anyone mention the value resorts, except Pop Century & from the map, it looked like it was on the out-skirts of everything, so we didn't chose that one.

Is it too late for us... Is this a nice hotel? Or are the photos deceiving? Help! :scared:

Your girls will love this resort! The giant icons are amazing.
Be sure to check out the Toy Story area and enter "Andy's Room"
;) When my ds was younger , asmo was the ONLY resort he wanted to stay at. :worship:

When we go back in April, we are going to stop by to take his picture in the Buzz Lightyear car....:goodvibes He's grown alot... I'm smiling now, remembering all the great times we had there...:tinker:

Thanks Prissymouse!

I was booking the rooms with the girls in mind and this seemed to fit the bill (and our budget) I realize there are more expensive resorts on site, but we don't have a lot of money, so we were trying to be thrifty. ;) :) :flower3:

It costs a small fortune to take your kids to Disney these days.
Be proud that you are doing that for your family. Very Proud:goodvibes

We are staying there in May, however we have stayed at both Pop and All Star Sports. All of the rooms are pretty much the same. It is a standard hotel room, but clean and buildings are well maintained. The foodcourts are your standard as well. For us all we need is a place to sleep and maybe swim, so we are satisified with the standard. It is not about the room for us but the overall magic of DW.

Enjoy your first trip to Disney! I know it will be a memorable one! By the way, :welcome: to the DIS boards, happy posting! :flower3:

Stayed at ASMo in February 2006 and loved it and we're going back this August. The theming is fabulous, food court is good. Nice family atmosphere.

We have stayed at POP and POR Riverside and was impressed by All Star Movies in Jan. At check in, our girls were given balloon animals. They loved the themes and LOVED the pool area. It was a prefect fit for us.

My dd and I stayed there in 2000 and had such a bad experience that Disney refunded my whole trip except airfare. :sad1:

My friend and his family just got back from All Stars Sports and really had wonderful time.

For the last 7 years we've stayed at POR and POFQ and will be at French Quarter again this September. Love those resorts.

Wow...you must have had a bad experience....!

You have no idea how bad it was :sad2:

Not only did they refund my whole trip but they also sent a huge box of Disney stuff to our house for dd.

Trust me, it was bad.

We're staying at Pop this time but it was a tough call between there and Movies. We stayed at Movies several years ago and loved it. We've also done Music, CBR, and WL and would go back to Movies, no problem. We chose Pop this time mainly cause DD loves the pictures, esp. the Hippy Dippy pool. (Personally, I think she just likes saying the name out loud.:rotfl: ) One thing I thought I'd mention is that Movies is actually further out from the parks than Pop but I don't think it makes that much difference. You also may want to check into what is going on with room refurbishments - I've read that Movies and Sports are in the process of being done but I'm not sure where that stands. I don't think the rooms at Movies have ever been refurb'd before so I'm sure they were needing it. You can always request a recently re-done room. One other tip - I think the earlier you check in, the more likely you are to get your room requests. Hope this helps. Have a great trip.:goodvibes

First of all, congratulations on your FIRST family trip! It'll be a fantastic experience, and you will get a lot of good advice from the great people on these boards.

Check out Baby and the Tramp link in my signature for some ASMovie pictures from some of our last trips. We will be there tomorrow, and I will come back and post lots of new ones, as well.

We like the values just fine, and they're perfect for kids the age of yours. Don't be afraid; I think the good far outweighs the bad.

We're leaving as soon as school is out today, so just a few more hours and we are DISNEY BOUND!

I will trust you:goodvibes Looks like they tried to make up for it....and i am glad you have continued to go to WdW!

I really think that the resort doens't matter as long as you are on property! The more expensive resorts have a different feel/decadence (depending on the resort), but the most magical thing to me about staying on property - ANYWHERE on property - is that you get to totally immerse yourself in Disney.

I've stayed at several resorts in all levels - one of which was ASMo and it was fun! I'm sure that your family will have a terrific time!

We went in October for the 1st time and stayed at the AS Movies. I have nothing to compare it to, but I know that we loved it. Mousekeeping was great! I am like a 5 year old and I packed my own blanket (hey I can't sleep without it) and everyday when we came in our beds were made and my sweet wonderful blanket was smoothed perfectly on top, and there was usually a little towel guy on top. Oh what a dream, to have someone make my bed and treat my blanket with some respect. :lmao:

We thought the rooms were nice. They were decorated very cute. The pools and all the big statues were awesome. I loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat! Have fun!

We have been taking DD to disney since she was 18 months, have stayed at some mods, all-star sports, and the rest deluxes. Last spring break at the age of 16 we went to all star movies and after about 2 minutes she said 'why haven't we ever stayed here before, this is the best themed hotel we have ever stayed at and it feels more like you are at the park'. DH was like I wish we knew this before we spent all the money on the deluxes! Don't get me wrong I love the convience of Poly and Cont but the All-Star Movies is a fun fun hotel and she loved the food court! I hope you have a great time and I see we are practically neighbors! :flower3:
