Staying at MCO area hotel night before cruise...luggage question

We are flying in the day before our cruise and staying at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Airport because we have enough points to stay for free. We will use the hotel shuttle when we arrive at MCO to get to the hotel and then use the hotel shuttle again the next morning to get back to MCO for our DCL transfer. My question is this...when we return to MCO and check in for our DCL transfer will they collect our luggage or will we have to put our luggage on the bus with us and unload it when we get to port? If we have to keep it with us, is it clearly marked at the port where we go to check our luggage so it gets delivered to our stateroom?

When you get to the port there will be porters who will make it obvious. And you can also ask the driver who will offload your bags from under the coach bus.

Actually, when you bring bags to the DCL bus check in area of the airport you leave your luggage there and it is transported via separate truck and delivered to your stateroom. We have had our carryons put under the bus but any of the checked bags usually go via truck to the port.

If for some reason they make you take your checked bags on the bus then you would hand them off to the porters and they would get delivered to your room. Porters do expect a gratuity...usually 1-2 buck per bag.

Agree--in our 3 cruises we've never seen actual luggage loaded on a DCL bus--always on a white truck parked outside.

We've done this before. Typically the shuttle driver of the hotel knows where the DCL drop off is. DCL took our luggage then we went inside the airport to check in for the cruise. So, if the hotel shuttle drops you off right by the DCL check-in, it is very easy!

Don't put the Disney luggage tags on your bags until the morning of your cruise. If you have them on your bags the day you fly in and there is a cruise the day you arrive your bags could get picked up for that cruise and taken to the port.
