Staying at AKL, should we change to POR?

We are heading to WDW for the first time this November! I am so excited!!! Currently, we have reservations at AKL for five nights in a standard view room. But I am starting to question my reservation (Is this natural?). So many people seem to love POR. I am wondering if we should stay there instead. It would roughly save us $450. We can afford AKL, but $450 is still a chunk of change. Is it worth spending the extra money to stay at AKL rather than POR? Veterans I need your opinions!!! Much thanks!!!

I've stayed at both and both are nice. However, if given a choice, AKL all the way. The rooms are dark, but nice. The lobby is large, plush and melting with ethnic and cultural artifacts. The bar and restaurants at AKL are topnotch. I love the outside bonfire and the kiddies can toast marshmellows.

The pool is excellent at AKL and the bar has a savanah view.

Stay at AKL and if you can get a savanah view. It is wonderful to wake up ,or before you go to bed , go on your balcony and see animals, you will not be disappointed.
Also, everthing is within reasonable walking distance ( Food, Pool, Bus Station. etc.)

Two queen sized beds vs two double beds. No brainer there, two queen sized beds.

Animals outside your resort vs animals outside your resort (bunnies). Giraffes vs bunnies, again no brainer there.

One bus stop pickup vs multiple bus stops. One bus stop for me.

Yep, AKL has it all over POR.

I have to agree with the others. I have stayed at both and liked POR. However, I think that the extra money is worth the extra amenities and activities you get at the AKL. As someone else has already said. The two queen beds are worth it alone.

It has been awhile since I have slept in a double bed. I never even thought of that! I already think DH takes up the whole bed in our queen! Thanks for the opinions!

A big difference to us between the mods and the deluxes is the hallways. Deluxe have interior halls, in a mod your room door opens to the outside.

As others have said, mods are full beds, deluxe are queens.

Deluxe has valet parking.

AKL in particular is a beautiful, elegant resort that is one of the best themed resorts Disney has. We just returned from a week there. While we love the Epcot area resorts best, AKL is a close second. We loved it there. My vote would be for you to keep your AKL reservation.
