staying at AKL instead of DVC

hi all, call me crazy but i think i am going to book the AKL for 5 nights savannah view and it is going to be 175 points,i know i should rent out my points and save some money by paying cash.i just dont want to have to make 2 or 3 ressies to use up my points. do you think i am crazy for doing this? i am very excited about staying there, it is just going to be DH and myself,we did have a 2 bedroom booked at VWL and the points was just about the same, and my sister and her DBF decided that they had rather wait and go to HH with us in july.

DH and I are planning on doing the very same thing! We bought enough points to alternate DVC stays with other WDW resorts. We've enjoyed every place we've stayed so far!

Sorry there's NO WAY I could call you crazy for staying at AKL with a Savannah view no matter what it cost as long as feel you can afford it...but you can call me jealous!!!!

hi, we just could not resist staying at AKL since it was my DH and myself going.i just want this to be very special and romantic. i cant wait i am so excited. , thanks for not calling me crazy,LOL.

No . . . it would have to be less because you couldn't roam the grounds.

My DW and I stayed AKL concierge. It was awesome.

We got a great rate and rented the points to cover the cash ressie. If we were to use points it would have been many more points.

I felt the time invested in renting the points was well worth it. We can't afford to stay concierge any other way.

I might be crazy too. We are going next Wednesday to OKW 2 br for 4 nights and then to AKL concierge for another 4 nights. All with points. I like the flexibility with points and the kids will have such a great exp. My only concern is the smaller accom. at AKL but I am sure we'll manage! The trip was an extra this year, who could complain!

We did AKL COncierge with two weekend nights included, we could have rented the points and come out WAY ahead. For me, the $1,000 or so we would have saved wan't worth the hassle.

We are doing a similar thing in July. DD has always wanted to stay at AKL, so we are going to stay there, Savannah view, for three days, and then transfer to VWL. DH, who hates changing resorts, will join us after we move and spend the rest of our vacation with us. Maybe someday DH and I will spend five days at AKL too!

When you check in, make sure your room is on the inside of the "U". Tell them you'll wait for a room if need be. Since you're using your points for this stay, you'll want to actually see some animals. We splurged for two nights at AKL after our October cruise, and got a room overlooking the savannah next to the pool outlook. All we saw in three days was a couple of giraffes (for about an hour) and a few birds. Diana
