Just returned from our 7 day trip to WDW with my husband and girls ages 7,5,2. Had booked a lagoon view and had made 3 earllier requests:non smoking, view of the castle and close to the GCH. Check in went fine...offered either a 2nd floor room in Tuvalu ( non smoking...but no balcony)or a 3rd floor room in Tuvalu (smoking optional...with balcony). Although I really wanted either a patio or balcony, we don't smoke, so we picked the 2nd floor. To my GREAt surprise, it worked out great!! We could still open the sliding door if we wanted fresh air, and at the same time not worry that our 2 year old would be escaping!

Tuvalu is my new favorite building. It is in front of Fiji and sits right next to the waters edge. It is a short walk to the volcano pool, water dock ( if you plan on taking the ferry to the MK) and to the GCH. The new room is great, and I hope everyone gets to experience it. I know some have said they will miss the table and chairs...but there is a sturdy wooden table that slides underneath the main desk area. Of course my kids loved the new flat screen tv!!

Any questions...please ask!

How was your view of the castle? Did you hear alot of noise from the luau?

Welcome back. Any shots of your room view. Glad you did not get placed on the first floor. They have not done those rooms yet.

Aloha

We did take pictures...although my husband will have to post them ( I probably would mess it up  ! The view was great...we could see the fireworks over the castle each night ( including the MNSSHP fireworks which were amazing!) We watched the water electrical parade from our room as well. In terms of noise...we were not bothered by the luau, we could here it much more when we stayed in Aotereu (spelling?!?!) last year. I did forget to mention...there was only one SLIGHT complaint....the a/c. When we returned from the parks on our first afternoon and it was summer like heat/humidity...our room was very warm, it was reading 77 on the thermostat. I called the front desk who sent someone up. He told me that the a/c automatically resets to its preprogrammed temp every 48 hours. He lowered the set temp to 70, and then we were able to adjust the temp up and down as we needed. we needed to call back 2 days later when the unit went back to its preset temp of I guess 77. So fyi...just call them to reprogram it for you, and you will have to do it every couple of days! I will post pics later tonight!

Thank you. I too am staying lagoon view in December and was thinking of requesting that building so im looking forward to pics. How long did the walk to the Great Ceremonial house take and how long to the swimming pool please. Was lagoon view worth it?

Sounds like you and your family had a wonderful trip. DH and I arrive next week with 2 of our GC. Although I have a garden view requested I'm hoping Hawaii has opened and there is an empty room.

I love the Poly and can't wait to return. I'm an early riser, while everyone is sleeping I get dressed, get my coffee and walk the grounds. Sometimes it's still dark and watching the castle change colors before Disney wakes-up, the steam rising from the warm pool and the tropical smells, has a way of starting your day of Magical. No matter what goes wrong, I know the magic of this early morning stroll will smooth-over all todays problems.

4 days and dancing! :)

It was the wiring in our room that made the air and fridge turn off...but they fixed it right away.

I am glad you had fun, we love the Poly too. Everyone loved the big TV's!!
I, like you, did not mind not having a balcony...and we could slide open the doors easily..

for the other poster about the Luau...
some nights we heard it while walking around but never in our room!! Even so it was very tropical, Hawaiian island type music and was wonderful!!

we were in Fiji btw

The walk to the GCH was maybe a 2 minute walk...we usually gave ourselves 5 or so minutes to walk to the GCH and up to the monorail. We also loved the location because we could go to Captain Cooks each night affter a day in the parks and fill up our mugs!! The volcano pool is maybe again a 2 minute walk. The water dock to catch the ferry was maybe a couple of more minutes because you are directly across from Tuvalu but on the opposite side of the dock. The farthest walk would be to the TTC...but we opted to take the monorail all the way around because of having 3 kids ( with the 5 year old complaining the most about walking too much :) )

Suzanne: Do you know if the 3rd floor rooms in Tuvalu have been re-done yet?

krbq:
I believe the third floor rooms of Tuvalu are completed....Tikiman/Steve may know better. Just so you know, I believe the 3rd floor is smoking optional, as this is what they told me when checking in. Good luck with getting the new room....I will post pics later tonight!
