Stayed at AKV-Kidani and was given credit for issues but now have another problem...

We stayed at AKV-Kidani from Tuesday to Saturday - TONS of issues with segmented dining, TV's not working, washing machine not working, etc. so the Mgr have us a credit. He advised me to register my debit card so the credit would be made to my account. We checked out Saturday, it showed a credit on my receipt and as of today, still no credit to my bank account. I called the billing number at the bottom of my receipt and they said although I had registered a card, since I had made no purchases using my room key it was attached too, that they couldn't do a credit so they would have to mail me a check...in four weeks! He apologized and said that I should have been told that a charge should have been made using my room key in order for a credit to be applied.

I'm not too happy about this because I have to wait four more weeks for the credit, which was a pretty significant amount, but I am more upset that I was never told I had to make a purchase to the account on my key in order for them to credit me later.

Who do I contact about this matter - DVC or the resort? :confused3:confused3

Was the reservation with points? If yes, I'm shocked they would give you a cash credit.
 
Yes, it was on our DVC points. This is the second time we have stayed there in a year with issues and both times we were given a credit.
 

You can contact member satisfaction through the members site. But they are already compensating you and explained that it was a credit on the account which usually is made to offset any charges you made at Disney. If you did not charge anything how did you expect to have the credit applied. I would just wait for the check at this point.

We too, had numerous issues with our last stay at KV, and were given a credit on our acct. We had no credit card attached to our account, so the CM told me that in order to use the credit, I had to attach my credit card to my room. No one told me that I had to actually go and use the credit, I just knew to do that - I didn't want to leave a penny unused on our account. I assumed that if you didn't use the credit, it went away. I would feel blessed that Disney is even willing to issue a check, when you didn't use the credit provided.
 
Thanks! Trust me, I am grateful just frustrated that they didn't tell me. I will call both DVC and reservations.

I don't see the problem... Just wait for the credit, In my opinion you're lucky to get one. Now if after the 4 weeks is up then I would complain, but not till then. It's a credit that's all, act suprised, bonus!

Just mellow out a bit. I know it sucks, but you are getting a credit which is essentially a bonus for you. You wouldn't have come home with that money if they hadn't given you a credit.

I know you paid a lot of money and expect it to be perfect, but that's not the real world. Sorry the trip was fantastic.

No one's lucky to have enough problems at a deluxe resort for the management to give you a credit...


OP, when Jambo gave us a credit in December (DVC stay as well), they explained that it was a credit not to our credit card account, but to our account with them. So we knew we had to USE the credit, not get it given back to us in cash.

We weren't going to charge to the room at all, but in order to use the credit we had to create an account and put a card down.

Now what they did NOT explain to us was that they were ALSO going to set us up for automatic checkout where they charge your account the night before you check out.... It's two separate things, per their info about it...to do auto checkout you have to have an account set up...but just having an account set up doesn't automatically set you up for auto checkout. They just decided to do both with us.

We did charge over our credit, and I went to the front desk at 6am to pay the rest on our giftcards that we still had...but it had already charged to our cards. The lady, who had just been such a dolt with the woman before me, said that well, she could, maybe refund what they had charged, and charge it to the giftcards...but she hadn't filled me with confidence in her understanding of guest issues or her abilities, so I left it the way it was.


I won't be back to AKL anytime soon, that's for sure!
 
Did they not fix the issues with the TV and washing machine and were you out dining credits? If so I can understand issuing a credit but if they did fix everything I would not have even expected one . Having to wait a couple of weeks doesn't seem like much of a hardship to me to get free money. I had segmented dining in Dec during the computer changeover for a couple of days and there were issues but they were fixed and I never expected to get anything else from them. After two trips there with issues maybe you should try a different resort.

In my experience with Disney, their process of refunding money is the slowest around. Unfortunately, 4 weeks sounds about right for them. Tangent: It used to be a real pain when booking cash rooms with only 1 cc - waiting for the refund to post before I could rebook a trip. Working with DVC points is so much more preferable.
 
So, what is the problem ? You will get a cheque in four weeks. You mentionned for a fair amount , so it means that you got a big compensation.

Did you have to spend a lot of additional money because of the problems ?

Tons of issues is a lot.. this is 2000 issues... You mentionned TV, Washer, and dining plan....

I know washer and dryer are very convenient in the unit, but there are free ones for DVC guest in the building.

I would say, wait four weeks, and if you do not get the cheque, just contact member services.

Sounds to me they have taken care of you. 4 weeks is nothing when you considering you were not relying on, or expecting it before you took the trip.
 
People moan groan and complain about anything and everything to get "free money" and then complain that they did not spend it and then complain it takes four weeks to get a check. Huh?

It's the same thing here in Michigan.....

I agree, its not like the OP isn't going to get the credit at all. You had some inconveniences on your trip and they were gracious enough to give you a cash credit...just wait four weeks, its not like it is a refund for something you actually paid for. Sorry, but seems pretty ungrateful and that you are pretty easy to get upset at minor issues (wondering if you will ever have a stay you you aren't looking for something back for one reason or another :confused)
 
As someone who will be staying at Jambo and KV in a few months, I would love to know exactly what the problems were...

I'm there in less than a month.. so I am with ya.. what exactly what the problems were.. tv didn't work at all??? dinning? :confused:
 
I am confused. If you had major issues with the room, (did you report early in your stay so they can fix btw?), why didn't they reinstate your points, why are they giving you cash? I can see a huge problem with the dining plan and you couldn't eat, then I would want a refund...but room problems, getting cash?? Very confused.
