This is actually one of my biggest concerns with my September trip (that and hurricanes). I go from fine to very much NOT fine quickly. I also seem to have a blind spot when it comes to drinking liquids. If it is not in front of me I flat out forget. Heck, I often forget WITH it in front of me.
I think I may have to set an alarm or something.
I thought about that or getting the Gatorade powder packs... but that would be another think for my suitcase and I am flying which makes that harder. It may be better to drink something like a sports drink (Powerade in the Disney parks?) in that case.
grocery delivery is what we do when we're trying to save space. Although, packets of gatorade or liquid IV are quite negligible if you don't want to do grocery delivery.I thought about that or getting the Gatorade powder packs... but that would be another think for my suitcase and I am flying which makes that harder.
I went to the store yesterday and saw the size of the boxes... they are small. I don't know why I thought they would be huge or something! However, they only had the 0 sugar and I can't have artificial sweeteners so will need to order the regular ones from Amazon.grocery delivery is what we do when we're trying to save space. I hate the zero sugar stuff (even though I'm diabetic...if I'm sweating that much, I need the sugar too). I found that Nuun tablets are pretty good electrolyte replacer and they're very easy to pack. I think I found liquid IV on sale at Costco before we left for our trip. I still have some from that trip that will be making it back to WDW in Aug!I went to the store yesterday and saw the size of the boxes... they are small. I will also be bringing a small fan and cooling towels to try and help.
Yes, you need to figure something out before you arrive and have the discipline to stick to it. Practice at home first and accept right now there will be more bathroom stops than you are used to. Last Sept my eat to the beat concert was delayed because someone passed out. They'd gotten seated and everything but it was just too late and they got hauled off by paramedics on a stretcher. Hi! I stumbled on this thread and saw that you are looking for a uv umbrella for a scooter. I saw this on Amazon if it helps.I hate the zero sugar stuff (even though I'm diabetic...if I'm sweating that much, I need the sugar too). The cooling towels worked great as did the little fan!
Awesome! Thank you!Hi! I stumbled on this thread and saw that you are looking for a uv umbrella for a scooter. I saw this on Amazon if it helps.
I freeze 8 water bottles and take them to the park for the 4 of us. Between a couple bottles of Gatorade and those bottles we did okay last year.I will be using a Brita self-filtering water bottle for the first time this month. Am I correct that the water-refill stations in the parks provide not-so-cold water? The free ice provided at counter-service restaurants sounds helpful, but also time consuming. I was thinking about just filling the Brita with ice before catching the bus to the park and just drinking the ice melt until I have to refill.
This. I once saw a talk given by Jack Hannah (of Jack Hannah's Animal Adventures). He told a story of being on safari one time in Africa and getting dangerously sick. He couldn't figure out why because he had been drinking water non-stop in order to keep himself hydrated in the heat. The fact that it was only water that he was drinking was why he ended up so sick. His body had sweated out everything already and it wasn't being replaced. The medic told him next time to drink Gatorade.I'm a big fan of electrolytes. Often in this kind of heat, water alone just doesn't cut it.
At the larger counter service places you can bypass the line and just go up to the counter where you pick up your order and request the cup of ice water. Most of them will have a tray of already filled cups. You can use these cups to fill your own water bottle.I will be using a Brita self-filtering water bottle for the first time this month.
