I just wanted to post this because of how much it pissed me off.

After being at the parks for a large portion of the day this past weekend, my group (8 of us) wanted to eat lunch at DTD. We were going to eat at the House of Blues. Everyone was looking at pins at DTD and I decided to walk over and put my name down (this was around 3 o'clock). When I went over there, I walked up to the podium outside where a girl with sunglasses was standing reading a book. She saw me come up and make noises, but she did not look up at me at all so I had to say "excuse me" to get her attention. She looked up at me and stared me blankly in the face. Are you serious ? So, I asked her "I have a group of 8 and wanted to know how long the wait is for a table." She told me that they don't serve groups of 6 or more inside and that we would have to sit outside. We've been at the park all day, why would we want sit outside when its so warm? I asked her if we could all sit together at the bar, she said yes.

I waited for the rest of them to show up and we tried to sit at the bar. As we walked in she said bar stools only. GAH. This is starting to get annoying. We saw plenty of empty tables that could be easily pushed together so my cousin asked the bartender if we could do that and he said, "thats fine, you just have to come up and order your food here to me and you have to come up and pick up your food yourself." WHAT?!?! Do these people not want to serve us at all?

We skipped the House of Blues. Screw that. Why would we want to put money into a place that doesn't even want to serve us. One of the girls in our group had to go to the restroom, so her boyfriend and I waited for her and the hostess that was outside came in and was talking crap to her co-workers about us. She was all pissed off and I was fine with it because she was being a total (excuse me for this) ***** to me and ruined my day, why not ruin hers. GRRR.

Instead we went to ESPN Zone because they always treat us great and we can all sit together. By the end of our meal, each couple spent about $70 each. Boy did the House of Blues miss out on our table. Their mistake.

I just wanted to let you all know as an FYI about the House of Blues.

That is just ridiculous!!! Having met your group, I would think you're exactly the type of people they would WANT because you'd just attract more people to go there. KWIM? That is a bummer that you were treated like that.

WOw some days suck, she sounds rude !! Carma, all I can say is carma!!!

That is horrible! I don't plan on eating there anytime soon. There are plenty of other dining options for our family.

Thanks for the heads up!

What a horrible experience! You should call the manager and complain. Maybe you can get something free out of it at least? I'd be pissed too.

We tried getting seated there a couple of years ago and got the same response. My brother in law slipped the hostess a $20 and got nothing. We were a party of 4 adults and 3 kids so we couldn't even sit at the bar. We ended up eating at Ralph Brennan's and had a wonderful dinner with great service. I have no desire to ever set foot in HOB anymore.

That is really unfortunate you had such a bad experience. It sounds like they obviously had some rules they had to keep BUT WHY BE RUDE?? some people.

Reminds me of work. We have posters posted everywhere stating that as staff we won't accept verbal abuse from patients and that we long for a respectful work environment, YEA RIGHT. I have to deal with abusive staff members all shift!

Really sorry you had such a bad experience there :sad2:

Make sure to put this in the Restaurants You Will Never Go Back to Thread we have all been posting on in the last few days! And be sure to read C&M's horror story of the bad experience at Storytellers Cafe - it seems between there and HOB, a few people on Disney property have not mastered their customer service! I like ESPN Zone a lot - even though their lemonade is bad, the service and food are great!:thumbsup2

Wow...we looooove HOB. We will go down there just for dinner at HOB. I do know that the large groups are only outside, though. I agree with the manager comment because this is nothing like we've ever experienced, maybe just a bad night.

Has HOB been let in on the little secret that DLR's promotion is currently "What will you Celebrate?" and is specifically marketing to large groups??? They are going to miss out on A TON of business if they limit large groups in such a rude manner.

I agree with PP's. And exactly D M!
Push a few tables together, get those nice orders in for food and drinks, dessert anyone? I have a wonderful menu selection just waiting to be tried..... Sounds like there are some cranky a** people that work there. Hopefully it was just an off moment, or day, and that normally the staff do not act nor react that way. Otherwise, what with this economy! There are God knows how many people just waiting for a job opening there.

You can add the rude and unhelpful waitress that we had at WCT to that list too. I loved the food there so I will go back but our waitress was horrible. We had another waitress fill in while ours went on break (without telling us, by the way) and she was really good. Unfortunately our original waitress came back from break before we were ready to leave.

WL, sorry you had such a bad experience at HOB. How strange that they wouldn't encourage large groups. You would think they would love to have big groups to bring in the big bucks.

I'm so sorry you experienced that. When my cousins come out to visit and there are a LOT of us, we go out to eat and have fun. We did try HOB once and sat outside because we were a party of 20! I can honestly say that it was the worst service and the food is mediocre. My family are big tippers and the waiters and waitresses were lucky enough to get a $1 from us in tips...yeah that bad.

Oh Jas!!!! That sucks! I'm sorry you had to deal with that!! :(

Jasmine, I'm sorry you had to deal with that drama! I would call and tell a manager or something. Not to get anything in return, just to let them know, hopefully the manager will care.

I was thinking the same thing. We had a really bad dinner recently at a chain restaurant (that I dearly love!) so I emailed the corporate office with my comments. Within a day I got an email, a telephone call and a letter in the mail with a certificate for dinner for 4 with drinks, appetizers and dessert. I would definitely let managment know...this type of treatment is NOT acceptable.

Get that girl with the sunglasses another job, because it sounds like she can't even handle being a hostess.

I'm sorry that you had to go through all that cousin :(

Wow! That sure was nice. I have a problem with X dining establishment, and nada!:lmao::scared1: I even once chipped a tooth on a bad bun! Complained about it, nada!:rotfl2:Geese! I guess I do not have problems at the right establishments! Darn!!!! ;) :upsidedow

Will someone please fix the font function on this forum please. It works on the others. :thumbsup2 :wizard:
