We stayed at Yacht Club for 4 nights 6/21-6/25. To be honest, we really did not like it. It is a beautiful resort but we did have some issues. We got a discount because we were attending a wedding so we decided to try it. Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the front entry and a roof which really was not a problem for us. That is until 5 in the morning when trucks would back up to the front door beeping all the time. Plus the beeping of the buses backing up late at night kept us up. On our last night, a truck backed up to the front and started moving and rattling cages. DH looked out and saw it so we know they were moving cages. That night there were staff were pushing carts up and the down the hallway at midnight. I know Disney could not do anything about these issues, but it was annoying to us. We knew there was not a food court ahead of time but we did not realize how much that would bother us. The room is nice, the staff was very good. The greeter was very nice and we nicknamed him Captain Crunch. Stormalong Bay was only OK for us. What was nice was the boat to Epcot and that we could just walk back to the hotel after Illuminations. At least we tried it and we know now that we prefer AKL or POFQ. We had stayed the first 4 nights at POFQ and really wished we had stayed the there the whole trip. POFQ was very peaceful and quiet. We did have a good time on the trip. It is just that Yacht Club is not for us.

I'm surprised you did not like the YC....

I didn't realize there was no counter service at YC:confused3
I'm staying at YC before my BCV stay.....

For both places I think I'll make my request a quiet area.;

What was in the cages??? Disgruntled Mousekeepers??:lmao:
I agree with you on this one.....I much more preferred the convenience and peacefullness (if that's a word) of the FQ more then our YC stay. Beside with the $$ we save from not staying deluxe with the kids, I can get 2 rooms at a mod......thankfully we never mind staying at FQ or POR!!!

It was funny about the cages. I asked DH what he thought they were for since he saw them but he had no idea. I wonder if it was for one of the meetings at the convention center? Next time we will definitely be at POFQ.

I was there from the 18th till the 23rd..on the 4th floor (4134)..I was concerned that it faced the busses but I never heard one bus or any hall/joining room noise.
I had housekeeping and dining issues but the resort as a whole was pretty nice.. I do miss the Roaring Forks type foodcourt that the WL has..but the pool was very nice
We were a group of 11 staying at the resort (all DIS'ers)..maybe you saw us?

DH and DS clarified the cage issue. They were unloading large metal cages that looked they were for transporting luggage (or Disgruntled mousekeepers.)
Whatever they were used for, it was very noisy at midnight!

Disneydmbnut: a couple of the faces look familiar. We were in room 4194.

What a cute group DisneyDmbNut:cutie: . I love your shirts!! Are they YC logo or something you had made or something else??

Thanks..

Those shirts are from the Disney Store..they say "Aloha" and have Mickey and Minnie doing the Hula..2 people have the matching shorts..My DD (the blond in the front) has the bathing suit that matches

Those cages sound like what they load the luggage onto the Disney Cruise ships..maybe picking up for the Wonder?

It just shows that nothing is right for everyone. My family loves BC/YC and stayed this past trip at VWL and didn't care for it at all. We had always wanted to stay at the resort because we love the lobby but prefer AKL much over it in terms of theming. And we hated hated hated Roaring Forks. What a zoo. We much prefer the deli/counter service type place at the BC which is easily accessible from the YC.

The cages are for the ME luggage. They are very loud. We had a room at the BCV that overlooked the area where the trucks are unloaded.

The counter service is at the BC. I imagine it's annoying walking over from the YC. I certainly wouldn't buy a refillable mug at YC! Hurricane Hannahs is good but it's only open during the day.

We had a similar noise issue at BWV when facing the back entrance ( sort of looking out on the courtyard above the shops) . In the morning the cleaning and delivery carts had to traverse that brick and board surface that was extremely noisy. I'm a very light sleeper and of course they were out very early to prep the Boardwalk area before guests got up in the morning. To add to that there was the horns from the boats. I didn't get alot of sleep on that trip but at least we enjoyed the location. I wish all the resorts had some sort of food court, at least for breakfast. Not everyone eats a big breakfast or wants to spend the time doing a TS meal. ---Kathy

OH!! Your picture made my morning!! It is so cute:goodvibes. (I guess I should comment about the actual post)....We also stayed ONE night over the entryway to the YC and had to be moved. The noise was just too much for me. I know exactly what she is talking about.

So was the noise the only negative on your trip?? I ask, because believe me that is a HUGE negative in my opinion. Your other comments didn't seem too bad. We are staying here for the first time in August and noise is always my biggest concern with resort rooms. I did put on my request a "quiet" room. I hope the request helps us.....

Mermaidsmom...where did they move you to after your first noisy night? Just curious if it was alot better...

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your stay at the YC. This makes me so nervous about our decision to stay there. I wanted an Epcot resort that was quiet -- I was under the impression that this resort was the most relaxed / quiet of the 3 deluxes in the area. We're ending our 2 week trip here and I wanted it to be perfect.

Disneydmnut: What a sweet picture! Looks like you had a fun group there.

Dis Ohana - don't let it scare you..all the problems people post just help me be "hyper-aware" of things and to make sure that I don't just let them go. It is a big disservice to management not to complain when things are wrong..I FIRMLY believe this..how can they fix a problem if people don't complain.

Unfortunately, there are a small group of people who complain in order to "get something" for free and this seems to make managers and staff take complaints with a grain of salt.

I make it very clear that I am a loyal Disney consumer..that I vacation at there resorts and cruises and that the level of service is not the "Disney Quality"
I don't "Demand" anything (which I saw some people do on Friday) because then it just looks like I am complaining to complain...does this make sense??

I try to make my complaint sound like I am more concerned than an attack...works very well and I usually am thanked by management for my honesty and demeanor

- wow..that was a ramble...

As for the picture..thanks! We all met on the Disney Cruise boards for our Halloween 2005 cruise..we met up last summer for a Disney trip, this summer and next summer we are doing a back to back week on the Wonder...really good friends..they all live in CA..I (the one in the middle top) live here in Florida

Thanks for reassuring me. I realize there can be problems with any resort -- just that I've seen a few negative reviews come in for YC that I never noticed before.
I've spent so many hours planning without any help from the family, I sorta feel responsible that everything turn out perfectly! I think I'll just call ahead and request a quiet room, from what I can gather that and the mice keeping issues seem to be the biggest drawback. I am sure the YC is exactly the way to end our dream WDW vacation.

We had a great stay at YC from June 20-24. We got exactly what we requested and paid for...first floor near a Designated Smoking Area. We wound up in 1112, by the tennis court overlooking mostly greenery and we could see a corner of the tennis court. It was very quiet and we really enjoyed our room and the resort.
