Hi,

I wanted to see if any one has cruised on either a 3 night or 4 night Disney cruise and then stayed at one of the Universal Resorts. We are looking at this for next year. Do you think we would get a better rate on the resort with AAA or with an annual pass? We are looking at traveling at the end of May 2007. Any suggestions from others that have done this would be great! :)

Thanks!!

I haven't done it yet, but hubby just agreed to it at the end of our Disney Wonder cruise this December. We will be doing WDW first, then the 4-night Wonder, then 3 nights at the RPR. Should be great because we'll be off the ship by 9 and then at UO around 10ish.

This year, the APH rates were a bit better than the AAA rates at the end of May. Have fun!

Thanks for the response! How was the Wonder? We have sailed the Magic a few times. It is going to be in Europe next year at the time we can go. So, I figured this is the next best thing. :teeth:

Sorry, we haven't been on the Wonder yet. We are going this December. Convinced hubby to do a 4-day "taster cruise" to see if we like DCL. We have been on several cruises, but this will be our first Disney cruise, and we want to see if they are worth their premium. Sounds like you like the Magic. :)

The Wonder is ....... well, WONDERFUL ! I have some photos ( they arent that great because I didnt remember to tell the airport security that I had film in my carryon. So 17 rolls of film got X-rayed twice. :( ) We had a Cat 3. in 2004 .... did 4 nights at the HRH , the 4 night cruise on the Wonder, and then stayed at Disneys AKL for a week. Needless to say we needed a long vacation from our vacation! I wish we would have done Disney first like you are doing, but because of scheduling we couldnt. We didnt get much done at disney, so I felt like it was wasted money. I have never been on the Magic, so I cant really give you any comparison.

OK! Now that I have given you my life history, let me answer your question! lol

"Do you think we would get a better rate on the resort with AAA or with an annual pass? "

The rates are never consistant! I always book our HRH ressies as soon as the dates are released. How long are you planning on staying? If you are going to need an APH anyway, then just book that promo rate. After you book then be sure to check the rates for AAA and APH discounts EVERYDAY!!! You would be surprised how many times they change those rates, and they dont always hang around all day either! OH!! and one more thing! If you book online at www.loewshotels.com you will not have to pay a deposit. I personally think this is the way to go because its such a pain transfering money to several different ressies should you find lower rates! :)

If you have any more questions feel free to ask away!

We stayed at the RPR after our 4 night Wonder cruise in July 2004. We had stayed at the Poly before the cruise. We enjoyed everything about the entire trip. My DH & I were with our adult DS & 13 year old DGS. We had a great time and loved using our room keys to bypass long summer lines. My DH and I are returning to the RPR this weekend for a 4 night stay. We have free airline tickets after getting bumped returning home from Key West last June, so this is "bonus" trip for us. We loved Emeril's restaurants--especially Tchoup Chop (sp?). We went by limo from the Port. It was a memorable and wonderful trip! Go for it if you can!

We have not gone yet, but in July we are staying at RPR and doing 6 days at Universal/Discovery Cove/Seaworld and then 4 night Disney Cruise. We could save $4/night on RPR with APH, but staying with AAA to get Lowes 1st benes and possible upgrade. Still hoping the APH rates come down though to make it worthwhile to switch! We are doing parks first because we heard it would be very strenuous, and then cruise to get an actual vacation (rest!). Either way, you'll have a great time! Have fun!

I followed your link, and they require a deposit the dates I am staying at RPR. Maybe it's because it's Christmas Week. They do have a great cancellation policy though--you have until 5 days before your trip to cancel.

Everytime I have booked online, they take my credit card info, but I have never been charged a one night deposit. I only seem to get charged when I call to make the reservation.

Sorry I am late responding.

the loews hotel link I gave does say they charge a deposit. But in the four years I have been booking they havent ever actually charged my CC until the day we leave the HRH. I know there has been much discussion on the dis about this. I dont remember anyone actually being charged a deposit when they booked online. I always figured they just said that to cut down on false reservations.

I have never been charged a deposit for my reservations at PBH, either.

DH and I have stayed here before taking a 7-night cruise on the Magic - we prefer to do our theme-parking before a cruise and then do all of our relaxing when we're on board the ship.

The Magic is a lovely ship, but I have never been on the Wonder. I've heard many people say that it is also very nice - comparable with the Magic.

Enjoy your trip - I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Just wanted to add here that I would probably not do WDW after the cruise, but I would almost certainly do UO post-cruise, as long as we were staying on-site. FOTL really takes the stress out of touring plans and makes for a very relaxing theme park vacation. I am not sure if that's a concern, but others have mentioned they prefer the theme park portion of their vacation pre-cruise, and I don't think you need to worry about that so much with FOTL. :)
