I just stumbled across this ! I am so mad 'cause I booked a Disney vacation for March break 'cause of the 4/3 deal and now Universal has it...but it is not advertised until you go in and check rates....they also have a stay 3 get 2 free!

Out of curiosity I went to both Universal and Disney and got a quote as follows:

March 23-30, 2009 7 day stay with 7 day tickets for 2 adults.

Disney Beach Club Resort $2516.28 ( Stay 4 get 3 free)

Hard Rock Hotel $1611.64 ( Stay 4 get 3 free)

The interesting thing is that Disney is a package deal..you have to buy tickets to get 4/3 deal...Universal IS a "room only" deal but I added the cost of tickets to make the quote comparable....

As I said not too well advertised but by playing around it looks like it is available until at least June 30 2009 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I got the email earlier today, too.

I booked this deal for Feb. 1-8, 09 and the room rate was $108.00 per night. at the RPR. That didn't include tickets, but a great deal anyway!!!

We're in on this for June next year, HRH works out at $166.66 per night and managed to get the upgrade to king suite being plat, very happy with this deal :thumbsup2

We just changed our rate Christmas week from $144 to $126 a night! Thanks Universal!!

Whoa!!! That's a great deal. Maybe my week in mid Feb. will go down some more yet. Right now it is at $189.

HRH doesn't participate with the Loews program.
do you have the access card program?
is that how you got the free upgrade?

just curious

Nope, it's the Loews platinum upgrade.
I didn't even ask for it, they just applied the upgrade when I booked after I gave them my Loews number.
I made the booking originally back in September so I don't know if what you say about HRH not participating is a new thing and they are obviously honouring my existing reservation? All I know is I have a confirmation showing a king suite for 7 nights @ $166.67 per night :) (Actually I just double checked, it's actually $166.99).

Wow, that's really cool and yes it is something fairly new they have done so I am guessing they are honoring your original reservation. Enjoy your trip!!

Thanks, is this change on a website anywhere, I've had a look around but can't see anything?
I take it this means you don't get free wifi or gym access at the HRH with your card now? I just want to pre-armed with all info to save me looking a jerk after arguing with them :rotfl:

I can only find UO Package deals - 4/3 room plus tickets (which we don't need). :confused3 Can anyone post a link? :worship:

You won't look the jerk--they are the ones who made things so confusing.:)

things always change and i don't know if what happened in july was reversed.
please share with us what you are told by loews on the you first program.

all i know is what i was told in an email from loews you first program.
july 15, 2008 was the date HRH pulled out of the loews you first program.
there were to implement their own loyalty program.

all 3 hotels have some of the same perks.
the loews loyalty program in the other 2 hotels had the upgrades and a few other perks.

this is what i pulled up from the HRH website under the UO website:

Loews Portofino Bay and Loews Royal Pacific Resort offer special programs to make your stay with us much more comfortable and more memorable.

Loews Loves Kids

We offer a variety of unique programs and services, including lending libraries of games, special menus, welcome gifts for children under ten, supervised recreational programs, and much more.

Loews Loves Pets

Special treatment for both pets and their owners begins at check-in. You'll receive a pet bowl and tag, special welcome treat, pet tag, local dot-walking routes, and area pet sevices, like veterinarians, pet shops, groomers, and much more. Click here to view policy in more detail.

It's all about making the guests feel at home, at Loews.

Complimentary use of fitness center for Blue, Gold, and Platinum levels
Late check-out for Blue, Gold, and Platinum levels
American Express points (when paying with an American Express card)
Special partner offers

Call Membership Services for more information: 1-800-LOEWS-12 (1-800-563-9712)
Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando does not participate. *Upgrade only applies at time of reservation for Gold and Platinum members based on availability. Blue members will receive upgrade at arrival based on availability. ** The Frequent Flyer Program is a part of our Partner rewards program. The program is only applicable for American Express Points. Negotiated or Discounted rates do not apply toward mileage accumulation.

on how the wording is based, it looks like your upgrade is valid.
the one issue you would have is your stay will not count as a qualifying stay for the loews you first program.
if that is not an issue for you, then you have no worries.

If this has changed, the website does not reflect it.
i use the websites to check and see if there are any changes.
if what is posted on HRH section is out dated, then you should check with loews directly.

good luck.
hope you have a fantastic time at universal!

Thanks for getting that info macraven.
I'll see exactly what Loews say anyway and of course I'll post their response on here.
I'm not too upset about the stay not counting towards the you first scheme, the only time we go near a loews hotel is at Universal. The only hotel we really like at Universal is the Hard Rock so if that's no longer part of the scheme so be it, glad I got the upgrade though :)

I couldn't find it either -- so I just went into the Loews site and plugged in my dates -- 3/21-3/26 (5 nights) and found a great deal -- buy 3 nights, get 2 free! I already had a garden view Portofino room booked for those dates -- total rate for the stay just over $1500 . . . and after seeing this deal was able to call and upgrade to Club level deluxe room for $80 more (for the entire 5 nights, not per night). If I had kept the garden view regular room it would have gone down to just over $1000. Since I had already budgeted for the $1500, I decided to have fun to try the Club level! So maybe if you go on the Loews site more specials will show up.
