DH and I will be going on our first Disney cruise in May- it is his first cruise ever and my only other experience was a very long time ago, so I was wondering about staterooms that have no verandah- do they get very stuffy at all? Just wondering about that one-

Thanks! :p

Welcome to the Dis!!!

We have stayed in a cat 11(no window or verandah) and a cat 10(SPH room). We never had a problem with stuffiness or it being too hot or cold. Sure fresh air would have been nice, but not for another $600.00 ;) I wouldnt hesitate to stay in an inside room again.
Enjoy your cruise.

Actually I have found that the non-veranda cabins are easier to keep at a comfortable temp. When we stayed in a Cat 4 twice over the summer months....every time the veranda door opened a blast of humidy would come in. It would take awhile for the cabin to cool off and be comfortable again. We rarely left the door open for any length of time because the cabin got too hot.

Although my preference is definitely a verandah, we sailed in Cat. 11 staterooms several times before we learned about the secret porthole rooms. Now we always grab an SPR room when we are sailing in an inside cabin. I have never found it stuffy at all. Very comfy, and spacious compared to other cruise lines.

I've had both the navigator's verandah and the full verandah. I vote for the full one. I spend a lot of time sitting out on it since it is quiet and restful for me, plus I enjoy the time alone so I can write/meditate or just snooze!!!

I think I'd miss it and feel claustrophobic without it now.

Just came back from my first Disney cruise and we stayed in a cat 10. I loved it. Very well laid out, A/C worked well. I do not think the verandah would be worth the extra money for us...we were perfectly happy where we were. Plus I loved the fact that I could sleep in and not have the sun waking me every day!

We've stayed in inside cabins on other cruise lines & didn't find it to be a problem. If you think about it, a lot of hotel rooms don't have working windows. You get sunlight but the air situation is similar.

Don't get a verandah! You'll be spoiled for life! :)

We had a category 12 inside cabin. It was fine. It did read that it is helpful to bring along an air freshner for the bathroom on in inside cabin.

Or, have the fresh-air culprit use a public restroom...

You are BAAAADDDDD!

Check your pm, BD!

We have had a verandah the 2 times we have sailed, and liked having it. The open feeling with sunlight is very nice. We also feel that we don't spend that much time in our stateroom, so we are now leaning towards a porthole room. I guess it just depends on how much time do you plan on spending in your stateroom or out on the verandah.

Thanks for all you input- we will be in a porthole room, and most likely will not be spending much time in there but just wanted to know some opinions from those who have been there!

I'm new to the boards- thanks for the welcome! ;)

One other positive thing about the verandah is if you are feeling ill or tired - it's nice to have the verandah to sit on. (DH and I ended up with colds on our December cruise and used the verandah a lot - dinner at sunset was very beautiful and quiet!)

Not to mention Rae, that it would be nice to sit out there and eat somebody's SHRIMP!!!!! LOL!!!!!

Andy - you are getting as bad as Buckaroo's Dad in the teasing department!!!!!!!!!

What am I going to do with you?!!

Help Hazel!

I had sushi tonight with a Guiness draught - does that make your mouth water?!!!!
Maybe if I were sitting out on my back porch, it might - but it's a cold rain falling and there is no smell of sea water coming from the fields....just horses......

Rae,
Don't like uncooked fish and I don't drink beer, and that smell, is that the horses, or horse manure???
ROTFLOL!!!

So, Andy, I can't get you into a raw clam eating contest, huh? Oh well, at least you eat shrimp. I'm not much of a drinker, but that black Guiness draught really was a hit with that sushi tonight.

Horses and their byproducts never phased me- gotta take the good with the bad!!!!!!!!! Just wish they were MY horses and I could ride them. I can't even get them to come over to our fence so I can pet them!!!!

So what's your and DW's favorite place on the ship? We stay Deck 5 Aft - and starboard side.

Does Guiness really have black beer (I don't drink) or were you looking at your reflection in the glass?
