I know this may seem like a silly question to some but how do you choose the stateroom that you want? When I book do I have to tell the agent what number I want? Is there pictures or a thread I should be reading? Thanks.

You can check out the deck plans, either on the DCL website or I like the ones on cruisecritic. The booking system will offer a few (maybe 8?) staterooms available in your category, or if you have a particular one you want you can check if that is available. First time, we just took one that looked like a good location on the deck plan. WE don't spend a lot of time in the stateroom, so it's not a big deal to me. But you might at least want to have an idea of which deck and mid-ship or forward or aft location.

Enjoy your cruise!

Just my 0.02, but the first time I cruised I just requested the type I wanted (verandah) and it was fine! Now I get into it a bit more but mostly we go by category, then midship-ness!:thumbsup2

We pick decks we would be happy with then area of the ship. We don't want to be above or below things like restaurants, theaters or pool decks. We also stay away from elevators, laundry and crew maintenance areas. For this cruise we wanted a NON-connecting stateroom, but they were already booked. Hopefully it won't be too bad. On our last cruise someone snored horribly at all hours of the day and drove me bonkers.

First figure out what category you want. Look at the deck plans to make sure you don't pick a room above or below or next to possible noisy areas. My advice is to pick a room that has staterooms above and below it. I like to be aft because we go to Cabanas a lot. If you will be going someplace frequently, it might be a good idea to choose a room somewhat close to that area. Pick a few rooms in case the first one you request isn't available.

Thank you all for your quick responses. I do have another question that maybe someone can help me with. I have two Deluxe inside staterooms on hold right now. It's the same price for me to have one Deluxe Ocean View room. My kids are 22, 17 and 14. I'm afraid if we try to all get in one room my kids won't really fit it that pull down berth. Is that basically just for little kids? Has anyone had any experience with this?

I'd get the 2 rooms.

The single beds are twin-bed sized. If they will fit in a typical twin bed, they're good.

I think there's a weight limit, I think like 220 lbs, for the upper bunk.

But, I agree, with 5 full grown people, I'd get 2 rooms.

I agree, get 2 rooms.
Unless one of them is sleeping in your room, someone will have to sleep on the ceiling bunk, unless two will sleep together in the regular bed.

Two rooms would be my vote. We had three adults in one room and fit fine but we would need more storage with another adult. In addition, more bathroom space will make getting ready easier. I don't know how comfortable that upper bunk would be for an adult. You will want to get good rest so you can enjoy yourselves.
