Stateroom Options

Hi all! I'm in the very early planning stages for my first Disney Cruise, I'm hoping to go for September 2017, a 4-night Bahamian Cruise.

My question is about staterooms. I'm traveling solo and I want to keep costs as low as possible whilst still enjoying a little luxury. The price difference between a deluxe INSIDE stateroom and a deluxe OCEANVIEW stateroom is less than $100 so I'm considering the oceanview room. But I want to know is it worth it? Are oceanview rooms better than inside rooms (besides the obvious oceanview lol).

OR, should I just go completely budget? What are the standard inside staterooms like? Are there noise issues etc?

I was in an inside stateroom on the Fantasy last year. It was good from a standpoint of size, location, noise, etc. My only complaint is that I felt too closed in without natural light. The Dream and the Fantasy both have the "magical portholes" in the inside rooms which can be turned on to give video feed from outside the ship. That helped some and it was cute to see the characters pop up on the screen from time to time. But I missed the natural light that I'd get from an oceanview.

You know your budget best. How much time are you planning to be in your stateroom? If you are planning on being out and about all the time and only back to the stateroom to sleep, then an inside room might make sense for you. When I cruised solo, I splurged for a veranda room because I wanted to be able to sit on the veranda and read.

Last year we had an inside and an outside room on Deck 2 on the Dream (I LOVE Deck 2, it's the only place we will stay). I didn't stay in the INSIDE room, but I didn't like it. I think the huge port hole window in the outside makes a HUGE difference!

For us it depends on location of the room. We would rather be midship, (both vertically and horizontally), so we prefer midship insides on decks 7-9, versus a lower ocean view room. Also, the dream class ships have the magical portholes so you will have a view outside.

Now, with that said, if you could score one of the forward ocean view rooms on deck 5 or 6 that are squares, (look on the deck plans and you'll see them), I'd snatch one of those in a heartbeat!

Oooh ok, what's the benefit of those rooms? Is it just the shape/size?

They're almost double in size and feel like a suite, plus they have 2 of the giant windows.

No one's pointed it out yet, and I'm not sure you realize that, as a single cruiser, you'll be paying for double occupancy in whatever room you opt for.

Personally, I won't take anything less than an oceanview (prefer some "real" daylight). Noise issue-wise, if the oceanview and inside are basically in the same area of the ship, you'll hear the same noises. We've only had noise issues with people in the passageway being too loud, not so much ship noises.

What would you do with the $100? If you will spend it on a grand excursion then I'd say it's worth going with the inside room. If you are you just trying to save and won't spend it at all then treat yourself and go with the ocean view.

Lol, as a seasoned solo traveller I am VERY aware of the fact I have to pay the price for a non-existent person. I always take this into account when planning trips. But thank you all the same.

That's a great point! I was thinking that booking some time in the spa could be fun so maybe the savings of an inside room could go towards that!
