Stateroom Confusion

Seems like DCL may release '07 rates sometime soon, so I want to be ready. I have my deposit but I'm debating on which range of staterooms. Our group consists of family and friends, a total of about 12-14 people and we'd all like to be on the same deck. I'm thinking deck 5 because there's a wide variety of categories available, I believe CAT 6, 7, 8, 10 and 11 if I'm correct. Some of us want CAT 6, 7, 8 or 10. For myself and my sons, I'd prefer at least CAT 8, possibly 6 or 7 depending on price.

Can anyone tell me what the preferred rooms are in each of those categories on deck 5? I believe I read that there are areas on the ship to avoid if one suffers from motion sickness, but I can't remember what those areas are. Thanks in advance!

Traditionally it is thought that any midship cabins will reduce the feel of motion...but I have to say that I have cruised several times and stayed all over different decks and locations and never felt a difference anywhere.

Thanks MJ! I don't think any of will have a problem with motion sickness but I wanted to be prepared in case anyone in our group had that concern.

What I'm most concerned about is noise level and which CAT 6 rooms have the metal railing and also wanted to hear experiences from those who have stayed on deck 5. :listen:

A little bit of FYI, I just found out that Cat. 6 on Deck 5 only sleep 3, so if you were planning on putting 4 in a Cat.6 you will have to go to Deck 6.

The more centered in the ship you are and the lower you are, the less motion you will experience. That said, I've been all over in 12 sailings and never had a problem--the ship has excellent stabilizers.

With this many people--get a good TA and let them earn their $. You don't have to do all the work!

I'm thinking of booking with MICDAN depending on whether they can beat Costco or not. Dana suggested booking directly with DCL first so that we can try to get the rooms we want, then we can call her and transfer the reservation. I guess by that time I would have done a lot of the leg work myself, but I enjoy it and at least I'd get the discount. :)
