He's quoting a policy manual that says there should be 80 FP guests for every 20 standby guests. I think that is a load of bull anyway because it has never been even close to that in reality.

Really? I had never seen that or heard that before. Just visually looking at the lines it’s hard to imagine that ratio. Thank you for the info!

Ah, well nobody does know for sure as it's never shared directly. But conversations on here over the years have had a wide range.

Regardless any % reduces how many are in SB for 3 hours, even if it was 1%, 10% 20%?

Googled another site just to see some old threads.

Any cast member who has worked a popular WDW attraction will confirm - 70-80% of the ride's capacity is allotted for Fastpasses. At popular attractions, the CM merging the Fastpass and Standby line is doing a 4:1 ratio of Fastpass:Standby for the majority of the day, sometimes even more.

I don't remember but probably. This is most likely the reason we got to Epcot in February 2013 when they opened (around 8am IIRC) so I could line up and wait for them to come out at 11am otherwise you were toast. My girls had just gotten the limited edition Frozen costumes we saw at the Disney Store (very well made I must say but they had better have been based on the price) for Christmas and meeting them was a big deal.

Good point. Would/will be interesting. So many variables like you say.

Even if it's selection "Day of" who knows what rules there will be.

Maybe Deluxe still gets first choice, followed by mods and then Value. In theory they could all be gone before off site visits, or not offered at all to offsite.

Maybe it will still be 90 days out Deluxe, 60 Mod, 30 Value and Day of for offsite.

Will you still reserve a time frame window?

Then daily strategies as well will be interesting.

I can tell you firsthand that hiring people right now, no matter the industry, is challenging. I don't think people who are not directly involved in that process fully comprehend how difficult it is right now.

I am involved with hiring people. We too had a hard time hiring people, until we raised our wages and all of a sudden received a ton of applicants. It's almost as if Disney could actually pay their cast members a LIVABLE WAGE, you know, since according to Chapek "Covid has allowed them to make some major adjustments" ...everything except paying your cast members right Chapek? Same guy who just bought a 12 million house in CA by the way.

On the Disney Dish Podcast with Len Testa and Jim Hill about 3 weeks ago they received an email from a parent of a young cast member who outlined the costs of living just to work at Disney. Len, who is a numbers/statistics guy, broke it down and figured out the only way to work at Disney and survive is to live with 3 other people and eat Ramen noodles to BREAK EVEN. You will not even make money, just to LIVE. This is a combination of cost of living in the area and Disney's greed.

Raise the wages and you will be surprised at how quickly people will come back to work. People have had it.

"As of July 2, 2021, the average annual pay for a Walt Disney World Cast Member in the United States is $28,327 a year. Just in case you need a simple salary calculator, that works out to be approximately $13.62 an hour. This is the equivalent of $545/week or $2,361/month"

A more broad statistic: "Executives received $15.5 million in total compensation on average, marking an increase of more than $260,000 per year over the past decade. At the same time, the average production and nonsupervisory worker in 2020 earned $43,512, up just $957 a year over the past decade."

Where was that MEDIAN INCOME poster with the $80,000 a year estimate and how Disney is not that expensive and we should all stop whining? The people who work there make 1/4 your disingenuous inaccurate number.

Both Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios had extra hours every day for months for Disney hotel guests when those new lands first opened. In addition to FP that also alleviated wait times when you stayed on property. Now there are no perks.

I can envision Disney reintroducing FP in a manner similar to the Early Park Entry / Extended Evening Hours that is starting soon but only for Deluxe Resort Guests (which includes DVC). They can use the lure of the FP as a marketing gimmick to increase DVC sales and bookings for pricier rooms. (Disney could later drop the FP perk for DVC reservations.)

Right, except it isn't newly opened and it's not a holiday and FP+ allowed you to avoid that kind of wait no matter when it happened. I hate to think that the summer is going to run wait times at big holiday levels, but sure looks like it.

I was responding more to the second part of your post. The line has been much longer, so not likely they would close the line.

Yup, Disney has to walk a fine line. Give too little to guests and more will be looking to book off site. Quite honestly, if there are no perks (Magical Express, RAC, FP all gone) what is the purpose of spending 2x the standard hotel rate to stay at Disney?

Not only that, but the way the rates are, there gonna hit a point to where guests are paying a rate to stay in one level of a resort, but end up moving down to another level paying the same rate, they arent going to be happy with what they get for their money now vs what they used to get.

3+ hour waits aren't a new thing, they have happened in the past when it's especially crowded or there is a super popular "must do" thing.

Like most here, I’ve been going to Disney, at least annually for 30+ years. I’ve been during Spring Break, Easter, Christmas, May, June, etc. And this still blows me away 300 for small world!? I really thought I saw everything at Disney prior to this photo. I’m sorely mistaken

And FoP starting getting longer waits as time went on, where it actually started becoming more common to see 285 and 300 minute waits than the first 18 months or so. I think it took some time for word to get out that it was a 'must do' ride.
