Have you stayed at any Starwood hotel/resort using your Starwood points? Did it seem like they give you the average type rooms (garden/parking lot view) or the worst (falling apart, in need of repairs/refurbs)?

It depends on the hotel. I'm SPG Platinum, so I very seldom get a bad room.

I did read a post once on the resort board and another poster said they have certain rooms reserved for points and they even asked if they could upgrade with cash to a better room etc. and they said no, I dont know if the hotel was completely booked or not.

I always ask for an upgrade and I always get it. Once I got upgraded to a beautiful 2 room suite. I always get upgraded to at least the club level.

I only used Starwood Points once at the Sheraton Park Anaheim. We got a 14th floor room with a full balcony (not all rooms have full balconies) with a view of California Adventure. It was a great room!

We stayed on points in the Sheraton in Burlington, VT. It was fine.
