I noticed on my Starwood ressies for the Dolphin that I was assigned a king instead of 2 double beds. I called the Starwood number and asked to change to the doubles. When I checked the reservation I saw that my room rate went from $209 to $365 a night!!!!!!!!!
I called Starwood back and told them the situation, the first person I spoke to said that there were no rooms at the $209 rate. You can imagine how I was starting to feel... waves of nausea passing over me.. sweating... awful.
He finally connected me to someone who called the front desk of the Dolphin and said it would be no problem to get my original rate back.
I'm waiting a few minutes for the new confirmation to come through.

Wish me luck!!!!!!!

BREATHE DEEPLY!!!!!!!!!!!! Put your head between your knees if you feel faint!!!!

Don't worry -they will take care of you!!! You will be fine.

To the OP, I hope this works out for you.

To jgates - I LOVE your signature line....."You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat" LOL, that cracked me up!!

If you really want to breathe easy call the hotel directly and ask for James or Andrew. Tell him what happened and ask how you can get your rate back. Andrew works evenings, so you need to call late. Not sure about James. They both bend over backward for guests. I am sure you will be taken care of. Starwood is usually pretty good about it too.

I am in a similar situation right now! We need to arrive 1 night later than our orig. ressie, and the front desk was closed when I called tonight, and I followed the directions to switch over to talk to Starwood. I was transfered to the New England ressie center and she could not make the change w/out us losing the $99 rate. She told me that I was calling within my penalty free time range to make a reservation change, but that by Monday 12/15 I will be past it. She sent an e-mail to the Dolphin tonight explaining the situation and I am supposed to get a call 24-48 hours from now verifying the date change, keeping $99 rate. I sure hope so, as I am up against the clock on getting hold of the Dolphin tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Sorry to hear about your dilemma, how did you get that $99 rate anyway!!! My situation is worked out I think. I ended up speaking to Drema in the Ireland location. She called the Dolphin and had everything taken care of within a few minutes of my call. Is it worth it for you to just keep the reservations and lose that first day instead of changing everything and risking your rate. When will you be there- for $99 I'll take the room :D .
Seriously, I would try calling the Dolphin tomorrow and speaking to one of the people who was mentioned in the earlier posts!

Good luck!

got the rate thru travelzoo.com thanks to a poster here....yes, taking the hit on the penalty will be cheaper overall than taking the rate change. I am DEF calling the Dolphin direct tomorrow. I am pretty confident it will all work out, but it is a nagging feeling.....plus, even tho it is a fab rate, it is a lot of $ to lose when I did call within my time frame.( we are not scheduled to arrive until 12/21) I did not see anywhere to call b4 7p.m. to make changes....I am not saying it isn't stated SOMEWHERE...but when I booked thru the sheraton reservation system, I was not told by the clerk that there was an actual time b4 midnight...matter of fact, I believe I was told 5 days out on any changes...which I am well within that time. Oh well, like I said, I am 95% sure it will all be o.k. This is our first stay at the Dolphin, and we are not doing any parks, just a 2 night stay to see the decor etc., so I REALLY hope we can still stay there at that rate!

Thanks for the info. I hope everything works out for you. The Dolphin is absolutely fabulous and beautiful this time of year!!
At night there is a piano player in the lobby, or at least there was last year.
Plus, I keep hearing about this wonderful new restaurant, Blue Zoo which is supposed to open soon.

Good luck!!!

All is well again! Rec'd a call this A.M. and our $99 rate is intact and we have the dates we need! If only I could swing this type of deal when we can actually go to the parks!
This is what is getting me thru the thought of the 2 day drive. I also want to try "FRESH"....I think that's the name, I am tempted to stay Xmas eve and arrive at my moms Xmas day so that we have another day....but she'd KILL me!;)
Pam
BTW....so far I am EXTREMELY impressed with the service of the Dolphin...we have stayed at ASMU, CBR and CR.....after this stay, WL is the one remaining resort of our top 5...we had that booked until I saw the $99 rate...no brainer to switch at a $100 savings per night!
