While checking in at AKL lady week, a very chatty front desk clerk told me to "listen closely to rumors of Starwars Land and Carsland at WDW" then gushed over how excited he was for something new. Not sure if this is entirely new rumors but I thought it was interesting nonetheless.

Star wars - Yes
Carsland - probably not

Also front desk people are not told of things like this prior to any announcements. they are most likely hearing rumors of them on sites like this.

Now, I have heard the opposite.. Carsland - Yes, because it's doing so well in DCA and Star Wars - No, because Star Tours already exists and Avatarland is coming in.

Well thats something because since the purchase of lucasfilm every rumor suggests star wars is coming. I have had multiple insiders says its coming. Carsland was originally green lit for DHS but once lucasfilm was purchased that was stopped. Star tours has existed for a long time it was a partnership between george lucas and disney. now disney owns the company they can do what they want with out buying rights to it, it is a lot easier. Avatar is in AK where it should be Avatar is not Star wars, star wars is much bigger in terms of fan base than Avatar. Star wars is supposed to be in DHS around 2020 (thats a completion date). Carsland was put on hold indefinitely and I don't think it will ever come to WDW because of star wars. Star tours is one ride, now think that plus maybe two more rides and an entire themed area whats not to love about that.

I wonder how much of the success of Carsland is due to the Cars theme, or just the fact that it added much needed attractions to DCA.

That is something I hadn't heard.. I thought Carsland was for DHS.. but you're info makes sense. Maybe they'll do a pod racer ride instead of the RSR ride

Good point.

Both are definitely important. The theming of Carsland is Disney's best in quite a while, in my opinion. On the other hand, like you said, DCA needed a new E-ticket attraction, and not only is Radiator Spring Racers one of those, but it's also one of the best rides Disney has built in decades. But yeah, it does help that Cars has a lot of appeal among children, despite of being one of Pixar's weakest works.

In regards of which land seems more feasible, I think that Star Wars has a bigger chance than Cars. Carsland has become DCA's golden ticket, and I feel like the company wants it to remain a DCA exclusive. I think that an expansion of Pixarland is even more possible than the creation of a brand new Carsland. And Frozen land, yeah, I don't think that's ever happening.

I don't know if its one of the best disney rides in decades, its test track with a cars theme and the track is a bit different but the car and ride system is the same. I agree though that DCA needed this and I think it will remain DCA exclusive for that reason.

Oh sure, it's the same system. I just think that it takes the Test Track concept to a whole new level (although I still have to experience the updated version of TT). The combination of dark ride with outdoors ride, the wonderful theming, and the mixture of thrill with a calm ride through the desert... I personally think it is one of the best rides they've done in the last couple of decades (say 1995 to 2014), at least as far as the overall experience goes, not necessarily the system innovation.

It's not like we've had much in recent years anyway :rotfl: Although now that I think about it, we've had many wonderful rides in the last 15-20 years like TSMM, Expedition Everest, Indiana Jones or Rock n' Roller.

It's really good and probably the best designed ride at DCA. I was underwhelmed by the race part, but thought the audio-animatronics were fantastic. If they sped up the cars a little on the race part, it would go from an 8 to a 10.

I agree the theming and animatronics are great and I've only seen it in video I haven't experienced it yet. DCA needed this attraction.

I saw Carsland last August and was completely amazed! It was my sons and I favorite thing, describing it doesn't do it justice, you have to see it in person!

I figure anything with Star Wars in the parks (outside of star tours) is going to be a wait and see. Even though it's extremely popular, the original movies are pretty old and the newest films were pretty bad. If it was me I'd start drawing up ideas now and wait and see how well the new movies do. I wouldn't expect to see any type of Star Wars announcement until after the first film comes out. Either way though, I still think Disney needs to respond to Harry Potter and I don't think Avatar land is going to cut it.

Anyone that thinks Carsland is only popular because it's Cars, or thinks that RSR is just the same as Test Track clearly hasn't been there.

That said, I would prefer they keep Carsland in California and go for Star Wars in DHS. I want different things on different coasts to make the trek out to California worth it every few years.

I also agree with Rteetz. All indications are the Carsland concept for DHS has been shelved in favor of something else, likely Star Wars. I think Disney realizes Star Wars has a broader age appeal in that it will appeal to the parents (that grew up on Star Wars) as well as the kids, making it a bigger draw than Carsland would be.

I never said that RSR is the same as test track I just said that it uses the same ride system. I have never been to anaheim but i would love to go someday.

Like you said different draws on each coast are good. Disney shouldn't copy everything. I strongly believe there were plans to bring cars to DHS at one point but that was before the star wars deal.

Anyone who has been to Disney during any of the Star Wars Weekends knows that a Star Wars expansion would make a lot of sense. Yes, the older movies are old but the younger generation watches them just the same. I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan, but my DH and DS are. We can gladly spend 1/2 our day riding Star Tours at DHS! DHS needs something new and the success of SWWs is proof that have a Star Wars expansion will bring in the crowds. This past May they even had a Star Wars character breakfast which made me think it's a sign of things to come. :cool1:

I'd love to see Carsland at Wdw. It's one of a few things that make me want to go to DLR, but I'd rather just return to wdw!

I think I used to work with that lady...
